MSI’s R70,000 Titanic gaming laptop

No thank you. Can build a PC with more power than this for about R20k I'd reckon. Also, what is the battery life going to be like? Start up a game, 20 seconds later you get a battery level low warning?

Perhaps there is a market for this kind of thing, but it is definitely not for me.

No thank you, even if I won the lottery jackpot I still wouldn't bother.

A better alternative is to build a very powerful mini-itx system for the fraction of that cost. You are still left with a "small form factor" PC which can be upgraded and modded at a later stage as well.

I have an MSI laptop that I got for R 25 000 about 4 years back.

What is the Battery Life on a gaming PC without the power supply plugged in? 0?
My power supply has to be plugged in for it to function like a gaming laptop, otherwise it goes into a "saving" mode when it is not plugged in. Can not run anything demanding at all when it is not plugged in.

Seems like an absolute waste of money, as stated before in this thread. Wouldn't bother even if i had money to throw away.

Ok so help us understand then why you chose a laptop rather than a desktop gaming PC (that would've been cheaper) if you don't have the benefit of long term use without the cable plugged in?

Mobility! And IF i do want to use it for work for 2 hours or so then I can. I still have my desktop PC though, but prefer my laptop

But you can have a gaming laptop and a gaming pc for less than this MSI product.

I am justifying my MSI laptop that I bought.
I agree R 70 000 is quite overboard!! But I love my gaming laptop, and it does both things it should do very well. It games well, and it laptops well :)

Yeah we're not criticising at all, was just curious as I've never understood why any gamer buys a laptop [emoji14]. But hey if you can afford it, more power to you :)

Sometimes I do regret not buying a Desktop PC, wanting to get a 144HZ screen is going to be such a mission to set up each time. As i play with my laptops steelseries keyboard and its own screen.
It also runs everything great, played BF Hardline everything high the last couple of days and it runs smoothly.

Maybe I just like going against the grain, as it is not the most popular or conventional choice for gamers :P
I also got mine for a very good price while I had a family member in America at the time, so that might have influenced my decision slightly as well

Personally, if a gaming laptop has to be docked, I feel it loses the whole 'gaming laptop' selling point. I have a gaming laptop because I travel (or used to when I got it). It is still a great laptop despite being a 2011 model, but I use my new desktop and consoles for gaming now. If there's a LAN, I take my desktop, but will bring the laptop for someone else to use.

My problem is that you could build a decent gaming PC and buy a nice work laptop for the same money you spend on a gaming laptop.

Plus that stupid gaming dock is useless, just build a micro pc instead of spending moneyon a GPU dock.

Totally agree. R70,000 for one laptop is crazy.

Oh ok, well to be honest I dont think anyone was criticizing your gaming laptop. Personally I thought the thread was about a R70k laptop.
