Largely inconsequential. It's the copyright not the geolock that is the problem from a legal perspective as far as I can tell.

It's to be understood in the context of eg steam games costing more in Australia rather than bypassing laws like copyright as is the case with Netflix.

And yeah the whole thing is pretty stupid. Money for content...its not that difficult.

I also find it hard to understand, if Netflix costs $10 (for example i think its actually $8) Then it should cost R100.00 exchange rate depending... I don't see why its more expensive in a country like Australia? And im sure it will be even more expensive here...

Yeah that's my biggest concern. The price is definitely not going to be as cheap as we've been having it so far. But then again as long as it's substantially less than DSTV it's still a win.

Its also going to depend a great deal on how up to date they keep us... There's no point if we are going to be weeks behind DSTV either...

Well from what I know Netflix is usually a season or 2 behind with their series (except those they produce themselves) but the convenience of having so much to choose from when you feel like watching something makes up for it I think.

What you can do is subscribe to Netflix and Hulu Plus, Netflix has a much bigger library of older stuff, and Hulu has a lot of current shows, sometimes just the current season, or the most recent 5 episodes or something, so you can sometimes find a show, watch all the old episodes on Netflix, and then watch the current season on Hulu.

That's how Netflix works. If you want the latest-of-the-latest, get Hulu. I have both a Netflix and Hulu account and, together with Unotelly, it costs me a total of $21. Not too bad, considering all the content I have access to.

Ah ok, i never realized Netflix wasn't up to date... Thats a pretty big deal for me... But still at that price its really affordable to have both...

Yup. I know quite a couple of people who never did proper research before going through the trouble of getting Netflix up and running, only to realise 95% of their content is at least a year old. Shows like Orange Is The New Black, Marco Polo, House Of Cards, etc get released on Netflix first, because it's shows that they produce. Other networks' shows are always a year or more behind.

Makes sense then i suppose... And so Hulu has stuff pretty soon after release?
It still makes me think they need to look at Popcorn time specifically and up their game...

Orange is the new black was quite a good show, watched it a little while ago.

If you plan on binge watching a series for a few weeks, you'll need one that's been running or has run for a good few seasons at least, so it will be old content, and Netflix is great for that, find a show, start at season 1, episode 1, and get stuck into it. If it's a current show, then you might have to watch the current season on Hulu and deal with ads, but that's not the end of the world

AFAIK the latest shows are available on Hulu at the same time, or directly after airing on its home network. I've noticed most shows are available on Hulu even before the torrents for them are up...

Downside is they only keep about 5-8 latest episodes of most shows, so you're kinda forced to follow it or wait for Netflix to add it to their library.

I think it depends on the show, some seem to come up straight away, and some take a few days. Some shows have all the seasons, some have only a few seasons, and some only have a few episodes, I think they most probably have to make an arrangement per show as to what they can have available and when.
