As I said, it creates a nice sense of community and forces you to get to know people a bit. Think of it as a kind of induction to the forum community where you earn your stripes by a bit of a trial. After 2 years and 1000 posts you should've left an impression on at least a couple of people, or one of your latest actions on the forum should personify you a bit - like Eugene suggesting my tightless for me.
