Y u no more specific?
Not that far into the first book at the moment (think 200 odd pages) but the setting and story are both intriguing so far and I love the characters. It's also paced real well which is great as it prevents you from getting bored while reading (I'm looking at you WoT Book 10). I heard good things about the trilogy and after seeing Sanderson at work with the last 3 WoT books, I decided to give his books a go.
It's set in a time where one race (skaa) are slaves that are worth nothing, the land is covered by ash and the Lord Ruler has power over all. The rich do what they want and no one bats an eye, but a "rebellion" is forming. There are Allomancers in the world, people that use metals to perform "magical" acts and all of them are either nobility or have noble blood. The "rebellion" is lead by one such Allomancer and he intends to get rid of the Lord Ruler.
