Comic Books

And just like that, Spider-Verse has run its course, and I'm satisfied :). One of the better comic book events I've seen had the pleasure of reading in a while. Now to get back to reading some Iron Man, and Saga.

I'll check Spider-Verse out. Glad you liked it. I'm deciding what to read next. Zero, Sex Criminals or Southern Bastards. All of them have a lot of praise associated with them.

Im getting started with the Mortal Kombat Comics now, anyone else read them? There are only 9 out so far...

I was quite excited that they released these in the build-up to MKX, but the writing is really bad. It's cool to see what's going on and who is possibly going to be in the game though.

Bad writing? That's normally the case with licensed books. There are good ones, but the majority of them are bad. Apparently the best of these are the last few years' Transformers books. And I can vouch for the Adventure Time books [emoji1]

I haven't checked them out yet. How are they? Any good so far?

Iv only just started, but they seem good, im really interested in the story line for the build up to MK X though...

There we go... The writing hasnt been too terrible in my opinion, but Iv only just started, on second one one...

To be fair, I can't quite make a call on the story as a whole without the conclusion, but it's a bit cheesy in most places. With MK though, I'm not sure that it's fair to expect anything less.

It's still enjoyable as a schlock read and will entertain before the game is released.

So apart from Tom and his MK book, what else is everyone reading?

I've been out of it for a while... I'm busy with V for Vendetta, still :P

My brother got me a bunch of old stock from a supplier so I'll have some things to read soon, maybe not all that interesting though.

Let me know what you're getting. You're brother is more into comics than you are, right?

I'm getting a few Constantine, a few Hellblazer and some Green Lantern (not sure which ones of those). The brother that's getting me these is a different brother, he just happens to work in the right places (but he's also very into comics).

The brother that you are referring to (the one that I usually refer to) is more into comics than me, very much so. He lectures in visual arts and intends to do a PhD involving comics as a medium. He reads TONS of comics (he literally has bookshelves full) and is far more insightful than I will ever be with them. I always take his recommendations and I normally repost them here too :D

Edit:

This is what I am getting:

The Superior Iron Man? How is that?

I am so happy that you got into Saga, bru. Next, Revival...and...and...and...you've basically got a non-stop comic recommendation list waiting for you.

Haven't actually gotten around to Superior yet, still on the recent vanilla Iron Man run. Keep those recommendations coming :D.

Anything good going on with Iron Man? Who's writing it?

Kieron Gillen, some good stuff. I must say man, there are some big things that happen that change the landscape of the Tony Stark/Iron Man character. I like what little I've seen of the extremis plot line, and then there's the take on the Mandarins. Some good stuff :)

Man, I love Gillen. He does some great books and then he works with Jamie McKelvey a lot. I love the Extremis story line. Have you read Extremis itself? The art of that book is amazing! Done by Adi Granov.

Haven't given it a read yet. I should probably add it to my list :). I'll admit Luke Ross has been doing some nice things in the art department of Iron Man.

Please add it to your list. One of the better Iron Man stories. I don't know Luke Ross that well, I'll look into it.
