The official Witcher 3 thread

Agreed, this patch has does wonders. Haven't crashed once (as yet).

Question game related though. How do you use your torch?
Also really challenging, using food like mad and money doesn't come by easily.

Make sure to equip Swallow in one of your quick slots, if you run out just meditate and if you have alcohol on you the will replenish.

Yeah, spoke too soon. Just had a crash. Strange though, cos the screen freezes but I can hear the audio continuing. I was still getting attacked was killed. Only then when the "menu" came up to ask to load from last save did it crash to desktop.

Edit: Just loaded GF Experience profile settings and lets see what happens...

Edit: okay, game doesn't even run if I do that.

Edit: now I can't even get back into the game

Game runs for me as it did before. Was only in one area where there was no AI, so maybe things will change if I go back to town...

Played for about another hour on PC now and if I don't have something that shows the framerate enabled I barely notice that is so low. It feels fine to me and I can definitely play like this. I'm definitely going to finish this game multiple times and I really want to play with my imported character, but I'm not sure if yet if I'm going to play on 2 platforms at the same time. Will see how it goes.

Combat Tip 1:
During combat, if you hold LT, you can quickly scroll thru the SIGNS with the left and right on D-PAD (so no need to go into the signs radial menu). you will notice sign changing in top left on HUD

Combat Tip 2 :
The area under enemy health bar glows red, just when its time to parry.

Combat Tip 3 :
Use the DODGE and not the ROLL. The former allows you to quickly evade attack, while being well placed for counter attacking. The latter takes too long to recover.

Not sure if the parry point was covered in tutorial, but it has help save my butt a number of times!

I am playing on second hardest difficulty and its just right! have to use potions and food and dodge and parry to get through battles. oh, and mix of signs. the combat in this game is so rich! makes skyrim look paltry and one-dimensional by comparison. makes Dragon Age look formulaic and bland.

regarding the GFX, I have set everything to ULTRA or HIGH and switched off Hairworks. game looks lovely and runs rock solid 60 FPS (with a 970 and i5)

Had to restart to get back into the game.

Well, since my previous post I haven't had one crash and that was launching game directly without going through Galaxy.
Really enjoying this though. Just got into Navegrad.

I was going to fight the noonwraith a second time after I was n00bishly slaughtered by it the first time. I did not think burning that body was going to summon it! :wtf:

Anyway, I'm looking for one particular flower now, so as to use potions to help with the fight.

Also, I encountered my first bug: ended up in a village where everyone was crying (I nearly started too...), but... the atmosphere died when I went into a house and got trapped inside 'cause a wolf appeared from nowhere and attacked me through a wall; the door to this cottage was bug-locked as well.

When I first fought it I kept using the wrong sign, wondering why it was having no effect. :o

when i first fought her, i wondered why i was not doing any damage. then checked bestiary and figured it out and then killed her.

i have to say, the Blood and Broken Bones difficulty is just perfect!

Hey guys, can I request that tips like this be put into spoiler tags? I kind of like figuring out this stuff for myself. I check back on this thread often. Is that alright?

sorry, my bad

Agreed, but I did figure out what tactics I should use by reading about the creature in the game.

Completely agree there, really enjoying the challenge and doesn't feel like it's too much of a challenge.

Just finished up the first contract with the Griffin as of last night. Had some surprises in the story and nice to see.
And no, I didn't
Spoiler: show
bow to the important guy
, I said F*CK YOU! :D

On a buggy note: I seems whenever I have run the game from the Galaxy client is when I've had shit. I must have played for close on 2 hours without an issue when running directly from a desktop shortcut.

I want to get myself the Nvidia 960 or 970 so I can get this game free. Just not sure about whether I want to download that massive file. Eish.

Well if you decide to get one, just be sure to check which make/model are actually including these games/keys.
