The official Witcher 3 thread

The new patch (1.04) that brought improvements to Hairworks seems to have removed the hair that it is trying to render. I'm not sure that I'd consider that an improvement.

Sigh.

Haha, bald Geralt? :P

I see some other people are also getting the long loading times. I seem to be really unfortunate with this game :(. Still have to check out the new patch tonight. And roll back to the previous NVIDIA driver.

Are you talking about hairworks on monsters or general NPC hair?

Hairworks on monsters. For example,
Spoiler: show
the dead Griffon at the nest, if hairworks is on, it doesn't have a mane, just a bare piece of skin. With hairworks off, it has a mane. It had a mane yesterday though, even with hairworks on.

I hadn't realised at the time but last night while fighting a bear it didn't look like it had Hairworks fur even though I have is set to full. Going to need to investigate tonight.

Yip, I've had the same experience. I generally can't tell the difference between hairworks and non-hairworks fur, so I am not sure that it's even rendering the hiarworks fur :P

The difference is quite big. I remember testing it when I had the Griffin head on my horse. With the hair thingy on, the griffin hair has actual physics and flows around as you're riding. When it's off, the hair's just a static blob in its head. It makes a huge difference in the looks, but definitely does not justify the mad fps drop.

Yeah the griffin head on my horse, the horse mane and Geralt's hair all still work, just looks like the monster fur setting is not and I think it may have been like this since 1.03...

Ja, it just sucks a bit because I had no problems before 1.04. Then, there is a "hairworks performance increase" and suddenly it stops working :P

I actually enabled mine in 1.03 and was looking at that Griffin head on the horse and the horse tail and mane. It all looked and worked beautifully. Didn't notice if it was or wasn't working in the 1.04 update but it was there, will check for certain tonight.

Damn it!

Loading a game causes you to force-listen to that load screen dialogue... and as if that's not bad enough, Alt+Tab while it's loading causes it to crash, by crash I mean, screen turn to black and nothing happens; no sound or picture; task manager claim it's "not responding".

Not impressed at ALL!!

In other words... try my utmost hardest to NOT have to load.

i agree, this is really tiring. And every time you move from one zone to another, you have to hear the story catchup over and over.

Some noticeable improvements on the graphics front after the latest patch.
I reckon with 3 or more patches the games visuals can improve even more and hopefully they continue to optimize with every patch.
I am now 20 hours in, only lvl17 now but I have some serious gear now, think I am ready to bump up the difficulty even more.

One of my pet peeves of this game so far... :/

I guess I'm a really patient person because I've had to sit through that quite a few times due to deaths and it's barely bothered me. I does make me want to move it to the SSD though.
