The point of that statement was for the puffer fishies bobbing around here to realize the potential of the forum, but clearly my expectations were far from appropriate. The majority of members here are time killers. Replies to social buddies, pointless yapping and only a little discussion about gaming, technology, practically anything else.

The tone of this forum has been set and seems so it will remain.

Obviously. The point is that the hardware and gaming section is dead in comparison to the off topic section.

Your expectations of/for a gaming forum were not met and this upsets you.

But you see you do care, if you didnt you would have left tk(or never entered it) and go and contribute to the other sections of the forum which you say are being neglected. if i have something to contribute to another section i do but generally i dont cause there are other people with a lot more know how and experience to reply in those sections.

I agree, anyone with anything to contribute to the other sections does contribute, and still comes to chat here. No reason you can't post in a help thread and a chat thread...

I'm not here to fix something that a community thinks isn't broken. Seems there is no demand for a quality technology forum in SA to the likes of anandtech or tom's. In a very few weeks I will disappear for a while without regret. In the meanwhile, commenting in the neglecting hardware posts kills time.

No offence, but really, if you don't want to contribute, or read what is written, then why bother to stay? Just wondering. We are actually an amazing bunch of people, whom if you bothered to introduce yourself in the introduction thread, you would have found out.

I have met about 80% of the people on this forum irl and they truly are great people. We tend to get defensive if someone puts out a blanket statement attacking forum members and forum admins in their efforts to promote activity and we support them.

If you stop coming across as negative and aggressive, you might find a new home. We all game together, eat drink and be merry!

Sounds all nice and pleasant if I was a lone beggar looking to join the exclusive robin hood club. You said that you met many of the people on the forum irl and that just proves my point. You're a tight knit group. Any new member gets alienated if they dont suck up. I have no interest in meeting people from a forum or introducing myself to any community on a whim, even less so after seeing how quickly they can blow things out of proportion. My initial statement had potetial as positive and negative. It was everyone else's decision to take it negatively, so where does the problem really lie.

I wish the rest of the forum would be busier and I try to contribute but it's tough!

you see this is what grates me. [MENTION=14610]Slitza[/MENTION] you made the assumption that we are all pompous asses because we have a high post count and blah blah blah. im tired of being labelled an elitest etc when im not. we all started out where you were being noobie on the forum but we didnt do it by insutling people and a forum where you are trying to win a prize. Also i've decided screw it if you want to troll i will troll you back, mostly because I WILL WIN this Competition :D (FYI thats sarcasm)

Next time you want to make a statement mull it over in your head before typing it and also think how other people will perceive it. we all read things differently and also understand things differently hence the different perception made on your initial post.
