Dragon Age *possible spoilers*

Glad I'm not the only one heaving a major sigh of relief on that note :)

We aren't alone in this. Most pc gamers across different forums absolutely hate the thing.

Yesterday I tried to patch batman from inside the game using the rubbish of live for windows, the indicator bar said it was nearly done with the update. I wait another 30 minutes and just turned it off and got the patch manually of gamershell. The thing doesn't work properly and is an irritation.

Also, in certain games you have to disable Visual Themes under compatibility otherwise your cursor will be in one place, but you'll be clicking in another.

Then there's the fact that MS have stated that they refuse to allow you to change your billing country should your unsupported country ever be given support, utterly ruining the account-locked serial code you've used.

To me, it's just another form of DRM and victimising legitimate customers.

*mumbles*

GFWL is just a lame attempt by MS to compete with steam. Poorly implemented, badly supported. So glad they aren't using it for DA:O :)

The thing i love about this game is that the wizards spells really combo nicely..
like you can freeze someone and then use a concussion type spell (sonic blast) to shatter them and kill them instantly.

Also according to an interview I read this game is going to have over 140hours of gameplay (side quests included). And they are already looking at DLC and expansions etc.

So think this is definitely a must buy for Christmas.

The 140 hours is what Dr. Ray did. Dr. Ray is a slow deliberate player, game will be long but not everyone will take that long.

DLC they have 2 years planned. Wardens Keep will be out on launch day. You get it free with the digital ce since you don't get a map or tin box. They have a dedicated dlc team for the game.

We get to play around with character builds before launch.:)

We are happy to announce that BioWare will be releasing the Character Creator from Dragon Age: Origins on the 13th of October. This will give you 3 weeks to play around and get your Player Character just right before launch of the game on November 3rd – 6th.

What we have managed to do is get the awesome BioWare dev dudes/dudettes to break off the Dragon Age: Origins Character Creator from the main game so you can download it as a separate application to your PC. Once you have downloaded and installed the Dragon Age: Origins Character Creator you will be able to “pre-create” characters for use in the PC version at launch.

The Dragon Age: Origins Character Creator will allow you to create numerous different characters before launch and experiment with the different classes, races, and create multiple faces for the 6 Origin stories and save them to your hard drive for safe keeping until the game is released.

As you may be aware we are extending the BioWare community with a new social community site for Dragon Age: Origins. The great news is when we launch the Dragon Age: Origins Character Creator we will also be launching an open beta of the new social community site. You will be able to log into the new Social community site with your existing BioWare forums account name and password, and update it to the new social site account. Characters created with the Dragon Age: Origins Character Creator can also be uploaded to your account from within the Character creator. Once logged in to the social site, one of the first things you will be able to do is use one of your uploaded characters as your social website avatar for your profile on the new social website forums (yes we got that in!!), exciting stuff! Stay tuned for more information on the social website from now through launch.

Rushed through 2 assignments I had due on monday and tuesday and managed to get to rage and played DAO. Game is great. Only played for 15/20 minutes. I love the mabari war hound, has great personality. I played the rogue and human noble. For talents/skills I picked poison making, dual wield specialization and dirty fighting. Kick some rat ass for some fun.

Only thing which I struggled a bit with was position the camera. Couldn't remember the controls of how to position it and didn't have time to check all options. I felt the game played better in the bg style view, didn't like the up close wasd controls and preferred the bg click and move style.

A complaint of mine was the wiring of the mouse at the convention by too tight not allow you to freely move the mouse, this impeded gameplay for me.

Definitely going to be playing a spoiled brat noble on 6 November. Can't wait.

Did not go to Rage, but from the demo there my friends were thoroughly unimpressed with Dragon Age.

I do not think this game is going to be anything like a revival of the Baldur's Gate era in CRPG's, more like a continual rehash of the Neverwinter Nights type feel / system. Which is okay I guess, but not what I was necessarily expecting myself.

Maybe the demo on display just sucked.

What did they particularly dislike?? Felt much like BG than nwn for me. It has a lot more of those crucial bg elements like the party banter(nwn has very little of this).

Will a demo be available before the games release?

BioWare doesn't really do demo's. Last one they put out was for BG 2 and that was months after the game. Developers have said no demo, they rather spend those resources on the game. The character creator is the closest to a demo you will get.
