Wyvern, are you running Avast anti-virus? I read it is the cause of many issues currently on Win 10. Since uninstalling and going back to AVG I haven't had the unresponsive start menu et al issues anymore...
it wants me to add a code/says the current code is not valid?
so i went ahead and upgraded to win 10 last night,
first thoughts - not happy
i can no longer access my network shares....
some folks online had the same issue and fixed it with regedit - but doing registry editing on day one of a new OS, drives me up the wrong way, and cause its so new, cannot find a workable fix for my issue.
colour me not impressed
UPDATE:
Ok so figured out that as soon as there is more than one person logged onto the windows 10 machine, it will not connect to my network shares. If i log the other users off, then presto, my network shares are back
very weird
That issue kinda existed since Windows XP
Are you running Windows 10 Home or Pro?
It's installed, activated and updated. Sadly, the graphics drivers have not been found (seemingly) so now my aspect ratio is not adjusted; everything looks stretched. Also, this old laptop can't handle Win10 that well.![]()
The only problem I had recently is that my PC did not connect to my network on startup (said network cable unplugged). Disabling and then re-enabling would fix the problem.
I was using a static IP, but high enough up the IP range that other devices wouldn't populate it. Even so, the disabling and re-enabling worked so it couldn't have been an IP conflict.
Still, as a test I swapped my PC back to auto obtain an IP. So far it hasn't happened again, so I'm not sure what caused it.
The only other thing I have at the moment that is semi annoying is that if I drag something from my one screen to the next, it will want to lock that window against the side of my screen instead of going over the next screen, unless you drag the window sufficiently fast. Will probably get used to it and drag faster but it didn't do it on Win7 or Win8.1
what graphics card do you have?
You don't have to drag it that fast to the other screen to move it, just tested it a few times here.
Since my upgrade, this PC is running very choppy. I want to go back to Windows 7.
I swear, it feels like the OS is running at 20FPS.
What do you mean?Do you also have long login times?
