Aion - General Discussion

well you have to apply them on your chars via the aion account with apply in your master account and then collect them at your nearest mailbox ingame.

Cool ... I rolled an Elyos Mage on Kalil as well. I have 3 ascended Asmodians on Gorgos, so I'm keen to see what Sanctum looks like.

Done that. Maybe my version isn't eligible though. Very strange xD

Is Aion worth it?. I've played a lot of these types of game - guild wars, WoW (free server), Runes of Magic etc, but is Aion any different. Monthly fee's are sort of a commitment to actually play, and I play way to many games to devote my full attention to one in particular. Plus I heard that the flying can be a hassle since you can only fly for short bursts or something along those lines. But I am looking for something new to play whilst I wait for guild wars 2 & Diablo 3, so I'm contemplating it....?

Short answer: Yes.

Long answer: Play it for 30 days and decide for yourself. There will always be fanboys swinging both ways. BNITPMKOW*. So it's best you give it a go ... ascend your character past lvl 10 and specialize in a class - as it's not fair to judge the game before you've made it through to the capitol cities, which are truly awe inspiring. Stormwind, Pre-searing Ascalon, Orgrimmar, Kumandan and Ironforge combined don't even compared to these cities.

GW2 is only due next year sometime ... and if we're lucky Diablo3 (thanks Shadowfox :o) by then as well. Aion is a decent combination of good features from both WoW and GW. Plus - no addons! Server login queues are sucky right now, but that is to be expected of any new MMO.

Lastly - as for the flight query. I actually prefer the limited flight time as it stops people from hogging all the nodes in the sky. Also, zones where flight is prohibited are MUCH more fun if you've mastered your gliding skills. Gliding > flying.

Is it just me or is the second zone (lvl10+) a step up in difficulty from the Pre-ascension zone - mobs have a lot more hp, and I end up having to rest after each fight

Well ofcourse...

Noob island was just there to familiarize yourself with gameplay etc. - and since you have non specific classes and no proper spells, they can't make mobs difficult before people get a feel for the game.

The last thing you want to do is chase people away before they even ascend.

Besides, you don't have wings to evade mobs in pre-ascension.

I won't spoil it for the rest to say which quest it was, but I took the quest and I ended up deep in Elyos country last night.

They hunted my ass down 6-love. Got ganked by 3 lvl ??'s after escaping the clutches of a lvl ?? Gladiator. :(

Hehehe ... I knew you were going to run into that one sooner or later.

Your best bet .. for the others reading this, is to make sure your return spell isn't on cool down ... do whatever you have to do and run for the hills. No guarantees you'll run into someone you can kill ... and the guys tend to ping locations whenever enemies turn up.

Me ... I'm leaving that mission as late as I possibly can.

Problem is ... sorcerers on their own are easy prey. They're incredibly soft and juicy targets, especially for groups.

The very reason why I'm not saying which quest it is, was because I've heard of this happening, but had no idea it was that quest of mine. So I'll let others make the same mistake :D

It was funny how I kept evading the melee guys who tried to take me down by rooting them and gliding away. Eventually a sorcerer freeze-trapped me and then it was over. :/
