Troubleshooting for pets

hahaha! ja my vrou moet elke maand nuwe rekkies koop :D

yeah tried that with Scratch a while back... he hasn't been the same since

Damn! Safe restart though and not forced?

But on a serious note. Our cat used to scratch and bite onto everything. Made her a scratching post with some old wood and carpet, and she now takes out all of her frustrations on the post

Seeing as this thread is here, any advice on how to get my 3 year old dog to stop peeing next to the washing machine, he has very sweet nature and usually well behaved but he has peed on our clean clothes twice this month after taking them out of the washing machine, and now he has peed on the cupboard next to the washing machine. He isnt fixed as he has never shown aggression or any form of territorialness in the past...

You have two options, well one main one - he is doing it because he is feeling insecure. It is always best to get male dog's fixed, that will stop him from doing that. The other thing you can do is spray the area down with white vinegar. It is what will keep him from doing it again there. Keep your clothes higher - until you fix him he will try to prove his dominance that way. The vinegar will have to be sprayed almost every day. And trust me use white vinegar :P

We are confused because he has never done this this often before, we really dont want to get him fixed because at his age it will be more painful for him as well as at this age it might change his character... We will try the vinegar

Try the vinegar - have you changed your routine lately? That is normally what triggers this kind of behaviour. try spending more time with him, playing with him and taking him for walks so that he can pee outside and mark his territory that way. What kind of dog is it?

He is a labby x , we dont know what the other half is. He is to timid for walks, he trys to run away from loud noise and commotion, a very peaceful dog. Apart from now having a social life no changes:D

He still needs the walks :P But spray the vinegar over the areas he is marking. Also throw him out more often so that he can mark outside rather and if he pees outside - treat him like a puppy in training and praise him like crazy. Also make him these:
Super easy dog biscuits

No sugar is used in this recipe for bran muffins, and they’re great for sneaking in veggies and fibre. These muffins can be baked and frozen in plastic separately for easy retrieval as needed.

Ingredients

2 cups whole-wheat flour (you can use another type of flour if your dog is sensitive to wheat)
1 cup rolled oats
1/3 cup peanut butter, chunky or smooth
1 1/4 cups hot water
Additional flour for rolling
Method

Preheat oven to 180°C. Mix dry ingredients together, then mix in the peanut butter and hot water. Add more flour if the dough is too sticky. Knead the dough well, then roll it out to 1cm thickness. Cut into shapes with cookie cutters or roll into balls and push flat with the tines of a fork.

Optional egg wash: To give the biscuits a golden glow once baked, whisk one egg and brush it over each biscuit.

Bake the biscuits on a lightly greased cookie sheet for 40 minutes. Remove from oven and allow to cool completely before serving or storing.

To store: Keep biscuits in a sealed container at room temperature for up to one week, or in the fridge for up to three weeks. Biscuits can be frozen for up to six months.

The dog cookies will make his coat shine and be an awesome treat. (it is also cheaper than beenos)

That really does sound like he is clingy and insecure. You will have to find ways to boost his confidence - obstacle courses will be best - but difficult to do if you dont have one near you. Or find an agility class -he is a lab mix so he will be great at it and it will be a great way to boost his confidence.

I tried to take him walking, he gets scared and excited when he sees another dog and goes absolutely nuts (like a puppy wanting his favorite toy) He isnt extremely skittish so ill try playing with him outside more etc. He is a little baby though, he loves his family :)dukey.jpg

He needs some socialising then, I would definately take him for some agility classes if I were you. It will help him a lot.
