Telkom LTE

Guess it depends on the tower then. The towers in and around Edenvale are fubar though, which is where I had all my issues.

I can totally believe that. My parents live in the Vale and they have had endless problems with Telkom, more so with ADSL, but Telkom 3G too. What a pain.

Yeah, last I chatted with a telkom chop for DSL (when I was still up there) he basically said that the whole of Edenvale and surrounds are at maximum capacity and they only prioritize business requests for lines.

Stupid suggestion, but if you have a LTE device, like a phone for example, perhaps try a Pay As You Go SIM? Slight hassle but if Telkom isnt up to scratch, then its just a once off cost.

In Alberton, New Redruth where I live, Vodacom is great so far, I use it to play BF4, ~50ms ping. MTN...lol, ~200ms.
I cant vouch for any of the rest, havent used them.

Just the small cap sucks but at least I can game.

I've had my Telkom LTE contract for a year, absolutely no issues, very happy with it. Just that I probably should have taken an option that provides more data, I took the 15gb daytime 15gb nighttime option. My wife recently took out her own contract, 100gb day 100gb nighttime for R999 per month, I would go for that one next time

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

The only reason I am looking at Telkoms LTE is because of the uncapped special they have at the moment. I use my internet for EVERYTHING. So a small cap, and having to top it up every now and again won't be viable at all

No, I get what you want, but what I meant was, rather than signing a contract, what is it, 12/24 months and perhaps ending with something that doesn't work, get a prepaid SIM, test it and if it works, then go for the contract.

I had a similar issue with Cell C years ago with that 2Gb for a year thing. Said there was reception in my area, there wasnt, couldnt use or return SIM/data.

Ahhh for testing that might be a very good idea yes!! My brother also looking to get it. So might wait for him and use his to test. What you say is very true yeah!

yes the problem with the uncapped Telkom LTE is that you get throttled to something like 4mbps wheras the normal package speeds are good, I get about 33mbps on mine

Its also no good if the fair use cap is 10GB after which you get throttled to 384kbps or something stupid like that

Well, scratch this idea! Telkom refuses to give me the uncapped contract due to the coverage in my area. Even though I have coverage withing 3m right around my place. And they also will not send out a Technician for a test and demo. :/
They WILL however offer me a 50gb/50gb... Not quite sure how that works
