All Things Forza

I smashed my target of 9:20 with a dirty 8:59. I think with more practice, I can match this with a clean time.

I'm noticing a preference towards automatic shifting over manual. Is there any particular reason for this? Personally I feel that manual is faster thanks to the extra engine braking. I tend to miss-shift a fair bit which erodes the advantage for me.
That's awesome dude. A dirty time is still a time. My best is dirty thus far. Trying to push the lowest rated of the four cars. Managed a 8:44:791.

I prefer manual. Maybe it's a mind trick but I believe it to be quicker. Sometimes I find the auto doesn't put the right gear at the right time. Could end up in a higher gear in the lower revs, over lower gear and higher revs.
And as you say, dropping a gear is also a quicker way to slow down the engine. I like to keep it in lower gears especially in the quick sweeping corners.

Um we are still going for the fastest time on the leaderboard, right?

I haven't even considered going for dirty laps and have been driving nice and clean the whole time to stay with Forza's system where clean always beats dirty.

Yeah, clean always beats dirty, I completely agree. I've just been pushing this car too much now I may as well try another. But generally speaking dirty laps will be slower than what you could have accomplished if it were clean. It takes time away while you're on the dirt or hitting a wall and to recover. I think I tapped a barrier as my tail light was out.

But otherwise I'm just looking for improvements from you guys, clean or dirty, and that's what I'm seeing. Good job everyone!

I got to say that I had my reservations for this challenge. I really didn't want to be forced to drive without some of the assists. But dammit, this game is determined for me to have a great time. It is so much fun driving the car around the track without any assists. It's a different challenge where one mistake will cause you to go screeching off the track into the barriers.

Driving without the assists really forces you to drive more evenly, more controlled and a lot smoother than with them. Funny enough, that will actually result in quicker times on tracks.

You'll be amazed at what a crux they can be. You need to loose that racing line though! Use visual markers trackside to learn breakpoints. How's the Carousel treating you? ;)

Hopefully this can help you guys. Believe it or not, but what applies to the video applies to in-game as well.

I'm using the break line currently since the normal driving line normal makes sense. And as one get to learn the track the break line becomes less necessary.

I'm glad we aren't doing this track in the rain quite yet. Or in the dark.

Question. Does anyone else find Forza 6 a bit harder than Forza 5? In Forza 5 I put the drivatar difficulty up quite a bit and still always seemed to come first easily. In Forza 6 if I up the drivatar difficulty just one then it becomes quite a challenge to finish first.

My only reservation about this challenge is the fact that i drive 3 laps and it's 30 mins gone .... i actually had to call it a night in fear i would be driving well into the 'am if i don't watch myself.

I won't be able to partake any longer in this weeks challenge unfortunately. No more interwebs at home thanks to Telskum. Real bummer as I was hoping to post more competitive times and see everyone's progress.

That sucks man. :( Telkom is just the worst.

Well there is still a bug with the drivatars, no matter what difficulty you pick, there will be 1-2 cars that always drive like they are on nitro boosts (this is confirmed by T10 too). If you completely disconnect your xbox from the internet and then play Forza 6, you will notice the difference.

Can you perhaps use your phone as a 3G/LTE hotspot? I've given this ago recently when trying to troubleshoot some router issues I was having.

Sheesh, nicely done BeoTeK! :D

I've got some catching up to do! Didn't get to Forza yesterday unfortunately.

Unfortunately it wasn't long and DieGrootHammer took my time by another 2 seconds or so. So I think it still stands with him up top.

"whistling:

You better be prepared tonight bro, I'm bringing the thunder!
