What movie did you last watch thread.

Just had the great pleasure of rewatching one of my all time favourites :D. Where I learnt a lot about foot massages :D

Failtastic 4.... wow. what a turd.
So I watched this 2 days ago, and I had some words for our comic book whatsapp group. In fact here they are.

Fuck. Where to start. Dialogue maybe? Who wrote this script?!

Seriously though, this movie is bad on so many levels. The dialogue is quite bad. The plot and it's ultimate direction are ridiculous for so many reasons (actually, detaching myself from the source material, I'll admit the idea could've been fascinating but the god awful execution is something to behold). I won't talk about suspension of disbelief, and consistency in an established world (the powers and the science they establish) because that's a can of worms.

But ultimately the 3 big things that hurt my soul are as follows:

1. The lack of chemistry between actors that are actually good in their own right (once again, this fucking script, guys... Like... Wow). They literally wrote out any meaningful character relationships that are synonymous with with the Fantastic four; Reed and Ben (telling us they're best friends is not the same as showing us. Storytelling 101. Show, don't tell), Reed and Sue, Ben and Johnny, and most importantly Doom and Reed. Literally no character development whatsoever (nonexistent is the best way to describe it). I don't believe how a script with this kind of take moves forward with such shoddy or rather absent character development.

2. Fucking Doom. Wow. I have never seen such butchery of a character, a villain in particular, since the "Real Estate thief" Lex Luthor (and this leaps and bounds worse). Like, thanks for screwing over one of THE heavyweight villains of the marvel world.

3. This movie felt like 2 completely different and incompatible movies fused to make a disaster mix of note. The first 30 - 40 minutes weren't great and had problems that could've been addressed further in the movie, but it was interesting and somewhat fascinating enough to get me semi invested in how the plot would unfold barring all those issues, but then the second half of the movie took the biggest dump on itself (the choice to speed up the movie the way did). So much that I am in awe of what I've just witnessed. I'm not going to mention the shoehorned last act action sequence😱. Just wow. I came in with an open mind (I read elseworld tales in the comics so I'm not too averse to seeing different interpretations), and I was aware that this probably would be a bad movie, but I wasn't even ready. I'm a little saddened by the glimmer of potential I saw in the first 30 to 40 minutes. Ultimately, I believe the core of what was rumored about the development of this movie. It smells of studio meddling, I mean Josh Trank directed Chronicle for goodness sake. And on some level I think that's the angle I think he was going for with this, but you can see there was more than one cook in that kitchen.

tl;dr it's quite simple really, you can't even begin to be ready for this movie.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1992).

I was completing my wife's Joss Whedon education. Considering that she introduced me to Serenity and Firefly in 2005/6, I think I got more out of this trade.

In the mood for love, it had been my Asian film night list for a very long time. It's really good, but it's not the type of film that everyone will enjoy.

I watched Lucky Number Slevin again...damn its a smart movie. Really interesting plot line with great actors. One of my all time fav movies.

Finding Nemo : Watched it with my son, still one of the best looking animation movies.
Top Gun : Am I the only one that struggle to watch it, I love the Hot Shots movie, so all I think about during the movie about the Hot Shots scenes. I think I need to seek medical help, during the sex scene all I could think was, BACON!

The Intern - 7/10 Good Movie
Goosebumps - 5/10 It was ok. Kids movie. A Fear street movie would be nice!
The Martian - 6/10 bit of a let down for me but it was good.
Bone Tomahawk - 7/10 If you like westerns, watch this
