The official Witcher 3 thread

I hope you guys might be able to help me, bought the retail version from BT Games.

When I try to install the game, I get the below error. So I tried to copy all files to a directory on a hard drive, resulted in the same error. Disc is fine, no marks and it copied successfully from DVD to HDD.

I have tried on another PC, same error, as admin too. (PCs are Win 7 (Symantec AV) and Win 10 (FREE AVG) and disabled AV)

I dont have the bandwidth to download the game from GOG.

Call the supplier (number is on the plastic wrap around the game, but I'm pretty sure it's Megarom if you threw that away). They will give a reference number (usually XMS and a bunch of numbers) which you can then take back to the store for an exchange.

I unfortunately done have ADSL...

But, I did a bit of Macguyvering.

I used winRAR, extracted the 8 BIN files to a hard drive. While extracting, it gave me one error, that same blob.bundle file in the picture in my previous post. The rest extracted without an error.

The I tried to run the witcher3.exe and it gave me this error:

b51hm0.jpg

So now I want to try the Galaxy app.

If anyone is using it, what is the exact folder name used for The Witcher 3 in the galaxy games folder? Would like to try and see if it might just download that specific file, followed by the patch.

Don't use the Galaxy client its way too unstable atm.

"The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt". It's not in the Galaxy folder though, it's wherever you install it. I think Galaxy will find it.

Am I the only one who hasn't had issues with the Galaxy client? I quite like it. It's a lot easier than manually applying all the patches from the main GOG site.

After the new patch its been really unstable. And before that it was a permissions problem.

Anyone played any of the DLC yet, I want to get into that at some point maybe next year

Played a third of Hearts of Stone, finishing the rest on Christmas Day. Probably about 15 hours of content, well worth the asking price.

I'm in the minority because I thought the base game had major issues, regardless I think Hearts of Stone is better than the majority of content in the base game. It's one of the most interesting and well written stories in the entire game. It brought back that feeling from TW1 and TW2 that was missing in TW3. Difficult to describe, but people like me would understand. :p

Blood & Wine is releasing next year, before June 2016, and if they keep up the quality set in Hearts of Stone, it will be fantastic. A completely new region, one that's very different from anything players of the previous games have seen. Only concern I have is that there's little reason for Geralt as a character to go to Toussaint in B&W, or even to do the Hearts of Stone quest. Plus, if a certain sorceress shows up in B&W, it could make things complicated if players have already finished, or are near to finishing, the game.

The CEO of CD Projekt also said in a polish interview that because the game is selling so well and exceeding their expectations, that there will be "something else" after Blood and Wine that will entice new buyers. I doubt it's a third expansion as it's too late to announce that, but an Enhanced Edition like the previous games got could definitely happen. They've have been pretty active on their forums responding to criticisms and TW3 needs an Enhanced Edition just as much as the previous games did, in my opinion.

The saved files folder I copied to the ext. HDD must've been done fairly early in the game; redoing many quests and finding places I had found before. At least 30+ hours worth of stuff I'm doing from over. Not really a complaint as much as it is an annoyance to have to redo these things.

Damn that's good news, I'm loving the base game. I only played it for a couple hours before I decided to purchase the DLC pack. I still haven't got to any of the DLCs. being pretty thorough.

I never finished Witcher 2, I got to a point where i had to fight a dragon at the time of a tower, i just couldn't do it. And I had somehow stuffed up my back up saves and the only save I had was a point of no return on that quest.
