The Division Thread

Tried the Lincoln Tunnel mission and kept getting taken out by the 2 snipers on the ledge above the tunnel entrance. Think I managed to kill one of them just once. Any suggestions on a better approach to get into the tunnel?

Cover-to-cover! Use your cover, this is a must in this game! Also, if you see the glint they're about to shoot. Lob a sticky bomb at 'em, look for different paths, they's always more than one approach into each fight or scenario.

Excuse my limit comprehension of die taal, but does that mean you gain XP points for shooting dogs, rats and birds? I've just been ignoring the things all this time :wtf:
ja you do get some point. sometimes the dogs give away your position and start barking which alerts the bad guys. when i saw you could shoot the dogs i naturally thought hey lets see what else can be shot ...

For PC users:

All those candy bars, energy drinks and waters you pick up are extremely useful.

To use them hold V and move your mouse to select the item you want to use. They all provide different boosts, and make some fights a lot easier.
ooooh was wondering how to use these... i have just been giving them away to citizens in need so far...

Maybe we can start a top 10 list and each person can add to it if they know something beneficial? I'll start.

Things you should know in The Division
-Shooting the propane tanks on the Incinerator Cleaners will cause them to explode
-Shooting the satchels on enemies with grenades will cause them to explode
-Shooting an enemy that is about to throw a grenade will cause them to drop the grenade
-Purple level enemies, and Yellow level enemies (elites) all have significant reload times to allow you to attack
-On the left of each enemy's health bar, there will be an icon showing what attacks they do (melee, grenade, sniper)
-Holding V on PC will allow you to use a consumable
-Using the Situation Board and speaking to the JTF Officer in a safe house will unlock all side missions and events in that district
-When you complete all side missions and events in a district, the JTF Officer in that district's safe house will reward you with XP and an item
-On PC, pressing TAB while aiming will allow you to zoom in
-When behind cover, holding a directional key will move you around to the other side of that cover
-When at the crafting table, you can craft blue materials with X amount of green materials ie. 5 green fabrics will create 1 blue fabric
-If you want to increase the difficulty of a main story mission, select the mission on your map and hold G. This will allow you to change the difficulty
-When looking at stats on an item, be sure to look at the bottom right to see what bonuses are given. Don't just pay attention to DPS, HP and Skill Power
-Items such as grenades will have 'Base' stats and 'Total' stats. This is based on your Skill Power stat. If you have little to no Skill Power, the item will do the 'base' amount of damage. If you have a lot of Skill Power, the item will do the 'total' amount of damage
-Armor can be modded just like weapons can, but you need to make sure your armor has a mod slot first. To see this, look at the bottom left of a piece of armor when on the inventory screen. You will see a small bar, just like weapons have, which will indicate a mod can be added
-If you like deconstructing items, you know can mark multiple items as 'junk', and then deconstruct them all at once
-You don't need to hold shift to sprint. Just tap it once to begin sprinting, and tap it again to stop
-To dodge, double tap 'jump' and the direction you want to roll

If anyone has anything else, or if I missed anything, feel free to copy this and add to it :) Maybe it can be added to the first post as well.

Erg I don't know if this was obvious to everyone else, but i figured it out last night, you don't need to hold down shift to run, just tap it and you character carries on running.

Went to the Darkzone last night, found it way harder than the Beta.
haha! yeah missions on "Hard" are a lot harder as well

lol yeah I only figured that out at the end of closed beta. and I still catch myself sometimes holding it in. there's an auto run function as well for those longer journeys

Yeah, loads more fun I found. Normal is little to easy, never die.

Yup, myself and Cronus have exclusively been playing the missions on hard, it forces you to use your skills and positioning smartly which makes them significantly more fun. One particular boss fight did give us a lot of trouble though, but we persevered and managed to cheese him.

Arg, just noticed those keys sold on Carb were stolen.

I never buy from non-official sites anymore. I did some reading up on what they do on some of these sites, they purchase the game keys with stolen cards, then resell the keys at a good price. (Generally when a price is to good to be true, don't trust it)

yeah we played Madison Square Garden on Hard last night. Man what beating we took. the beta was A LOT easier

Now I am really annoyed with the level thing in this game. I have 3 friends and trying to get them to make group only characters and stick to the same levels so that we can do missions together is becoming impossible.

Ultimately everyone in my group looks like they will play this game solo until 30 then group up.

Stupid design.

-When behind cover, holding a directional key will move you around to the other side of that cover

This is annoying as all hell, talk about "getting stuck to cover while getting melee'ed in the face or dodging a grenade" . I'm looking like a gymnast half the time doing these dodge-rolls just to get myself out of cover.

I'm not sure if it's the Xbox controls or just something i'm probably not doing right, but looks like only way to release yourself from cover is to move in the opposite direction you are facing (i.e backwards) or jump over it, but quite often i just seem to get stuck to the cover like glue and go around it on the sides instead of unlocking from it.

Use the back arrow to get out of cover

Yes,on Xbox One, it will be moving backwards, except i don't tend to do that when the enemy is behind me or the grenade is dropping behind me, thus i move to the sides...and well that's where things go pearshape for me. Just something i need to learn

I would have preferred a dedicated button to "stick and unstick" from cover, not a directional button, because this won't be backwards key when you are in cover facing to the left etc.
