Damn inconsiderate Yanks and their PST nonsense!

Yeah, it's like the rest of the world doesn't exist to them :D

I'm pretty hyped. So far, we have the PG tech v2 demo as well as a full mission of Sq42 being shown. Maybe even some other surprises.

The 2nd part of the Sean Tracey interview is up now as well. This one covers new character technology, resource consumption and management, CPU thread assignment and the jobs engine, headbob and image stabilization, and authoring tools for Star Citizen.

This bit for those complaining about the speed of development:

There's a lot of question marks, and a lot of the time, there's no one person to ask. Very few things [in this game] have been done before. I think that's why a lot of people really like working here, though. It's challenging, but it's also why a lot of times we hit delays, because it just hasn't been done like this before. I explain my job to people as, "I screw up all day until I don't."

Thanks Greg, watched it last night. yeah, I caught that comment too. Chris said a very similar thing in his part of the interview. It boils down to whether you hack something together quickly that is almost impossible to support long term, or take a little bit longer but do things properly from the get-go, and have a solid foundation to build on.

Option 1 is basically the publisher model, which is why you get buggy and broken releases come launch day; the devs simply run out of time. All you do then is release a Day 1 patch, which is like putting a bit of plaster on a festering wound, and abandon the game as quickly as possible so you can move on to the next release.

Another excellent lead-up-to-CitizenCon interview article with Chris Roberts answering questions for Gear Patrol: http://gearpatrol.com/2016/10/06/interview-chris-roberts-star-citizen-creator/

The community manager and some SC streamers are doing a one hour pre-presentation broadcast, so yeah, the stream starts at 11pm. But the main presentation will only start at midnight - or later if past CitizenCon broadcasts are anything to go by :)

Hopefully they use the pre-stream hour to sort out any technical issues before the main show starts.

The full CitizenCon presentation is up!

No Squadron 42 footage as was initially communicated, which is disappointing. The planetary demo is quite spectacular though, by all accounts.

Will watch it later tonight, but just wanted to share it in the meantime.

Thanks man, watched a 30 min vid but had wholes in it so bad editing. Will check your link.

Just finished watching the presentation. Agree that the lack of any SQ42 demo or even more than the passing mention of the blockers holding it back was a disappointment. Would have liked to have seen the demo they had planned, even with it's "lack of polish" but can sort of understand why they don't want to shown it until CR is 100% happy with it.

I sort of got the feeling that the plan was to put some solid SQ42 info out last night and then took a late decision not to run it. The lengthy delays at the start, the cringe worthy pre-show interviews, and some of the drawn out content seemed to be mostly fluff and padding to fill up time. Especially the Spectrum stuff, which in it's own right is very, very cool, but didn't really deserve a 20+ minute insert of mostly PowerPoint slides. It is what it was I guess, and while the planetary 2.0 demo is excellent - SANDWORMS!! -, it and the rest of the stuff that was shown could easily have gone into a couple of Around The Verse episodes.

Disappointment aside, it's good to see the Star Citizen roadmap plan going forward for the next year or so. 3 or 4 major Alpha updates on the books, and a bunch of content planned to roll out in each. Although, with Alpha 4.0 slated for the end of 2017, got to wonder how long it'll be before we can start to think about Beta releases, nevermind a soft launch. Hopefully we get to see something substantial out of a Squadron 42 release in the 1st half of 2017 to help tide us over.

(Same video as posted by Sweepslag, but timestamped to the start of the demo itself: https://youtu.be/XuDj5v81Nd0?t=1h25m20s )

Good live summary and a quick post event interview with CR, in which he touches on the reasons for no SQ42 demo, on Gamers Nexus (been very impressed with their SC coverage personally.)

Article, includes the roadmap slides and a couple of excellent high res screenshots from the demo: http://www.gamersnexus.net/gg/2634-citizencon-2016-star-citizen-roadmap-sandwurms-planets

Thanks for the summary. As I understand it, they will be sharing the SQ42 gameplay portion when it's ready, so we'll hopefully get to see it quite soon.

Bah, Alpha 4.0 only end of next year? Seems like a long wait for beta/release is coming. Just when I started getting optimistic about 3.0
I'll watch tonight. watched the first part of the presentation this morning. Until the 3.2 plans. Mining in 3.1! :D

It is a fairly long way away, but heck, even 3.0 is soooo much more in-depth than what we have now. I'm sure it will keep us busy for a good while.

4.0 could very well be the alpha-to-beta transition.

Indeed, watched the demo last night. Pretty damn awesome :O. Planets looking much better than the Gamescom demo. Also looks like movements are much better as well.
