So, the Switch has been out, people have raved about Zelda for long enough, and other games are starting to get closer and closer to become available. I've been reading and watching a bunch of videos and articles about reviews of the console and seeing which games are coming to it, and my excitement is uncontrollable. I really really want a Switch now. I know @BoeTek has one, but is there any other MyGamers that has bought the console yet? What do you think about it? Also, I want to know a bit more about the local SA warranty. I can get a total Nintendo Switch, including Zelda and 1-2 Switch for the total of $630, which is about R6300, about R400 less than Takealot has that bundle listed. The R400 less is a big pull for me, but I worry about potential warranty issues, or region locking and stuff like that. I'm almost sure that I'm gonna pick up a Switch, just need to know if I should get one here now, or wait until I'm back in SA.
From what I understand there is not region locking with the Switch, I think this is account/profile dependant.
I personally am loving my Switch, and am now realising the versatility of it. Considering this is my first mobile gaming platform I'm still getting used to the mentality, not to mention my first Nintendo console. I just wish the games were a little cheaper, and I can't really recommend the platform to just anyone as the price is a bit steep.
I did however take the Switch along to a social gathering braai the other night, and while I was looked at funny (you know the look nerds get), once I showed them the capabilities and the socialness of the system, I had a handful of people sitting around the table while it was in it's kickstand mode and playing 2-player games with the joycons. We were all laughing and shouting and it was great. But I think this is where the pitch of the Switch is, at social gaming. Not in networking of gaming but the face-to-face aspect and getting people to actually physically engage in each others presence. Games like 1-2-Switch may be a very niche game, but it forces "players" to look away from the screen and engage together, and relies on audio cues, this is rare in gaming and it is welcome.
But eh, take from it what you will. This is just my opinion.
