UPDATE:
GOT IT!!! Finally found an awesome deal where I got the Switch, BotW and Has Been Heroes all for $569. I think that's a good deal compared to SA prices. And oh my, how amazing is this!! I've been playing Zelda non-stop, and I don't have a single bad thing to say about this game. I might have to rethink my Top Games of all time after only like 5 hours in the game
The Switch itself:
This is the bundle I bought:
I have been impressed by the built quality of the console. The controlled slide in and out of the various things with ease, and everything feels very sturdy and not flimsy at all. The quality of the screen is also really good. Now I know this is no Samsung OLED screen and only 720p, but honestly at this size, 720p really doesn't matter at all. There is no difference in the quality of the picture that I can see between playing on a TV than playing in handheld mode.
Performance wise, I am honestly flabbergasted by the fact that this console can even reproduce the graphics it does for what it is. Its like a tabled on steroids. I played BotW with the patch installed, and didn't see a single frame drop under any circumstances.
While the physical games are on the expensive part, they are 100% in line with any other console price, and Steam prices, for that matter. The digital online store prices are also very competitive and pretty much in line with what you'd expect to pay for the various games.
There are 2 things that are a bit meh about the console though. Firstly, the disc space is really tiny at only effectively 25GB that can be used for games. This can however be increased by adding an SD card, which is another investment to make. Then the controllers takes some getting use to. The A button is on a different location than an Xbox, so I had to readjust rather quickly. Also, I do feel like my hands are too big for the controllers, so again takes getting used to holding in a comfortable way. Docking the controllers into the Joycon dock thingy actually feels good, and I've spent most of my time playing Zelda like that.
I haven't had the chance to push the battery life though, but that day will come. In 2 weeks I'm flying back to SA, a 14 hour flight, so will have plenty of time to test battery life and charging time.
Overall, I am really satisfied with the Switch, and I hope that game developers see the potential and bring many games onto the platform. There are some fantastic games coming in the near future.
