Warframe: Official Thread

Eugh... Well about time I get into some type of Free-MMO instead of sneering and hissing from the sidelines... Might as well be future robot-ninja themed! :D

And now another reason why I adore these devs:

Anybody still play this? I started again with Update 14 and I'm pretty much hooked. At first I wasn't planning on spending any money on the game, but I have since changed my mind and bought a couple of Warframe and weapons slots. I currently have 3 Warframes (30 Volt, 30 Nyx and 14 Rhino) with the 4th (Valkyr) finishing tomorrow night and the 5th (Mag) will start crafting tomorrow morning (if I have time to log in before work). Also busy crafting a boatload of weapons. I've made it to rank 4 so far, but I'm very close to reaching rank 5. I'm still learning how most of the game's systems work but I'm really enjoying it.

I've joined a random clan I found on the recruit channel and that has really helped a lot with research weapons, mods, farming etc. but I think it would be cool to play a few rounds with some locals as well. Did my first Dark Sector Defense mission tonight and got about 350000 credits in about 20 minutes! That was pretty awesome and it enabled me to buy a LOT of blueprints.

Anyway, add me on steam (Myrdlok) if you still play the game and want to have a round or two at some point.

I was able to copy my friend's Steam Warframe game folder and convert it into a normal installation on PC without having to download it all again and it was pretty simple :)

Only getting into the game now, started with Excalibur because apparently it's quite easy to get Mag prime!

I haven't played this in a while, but I see the Archwing update is available now and it comes in at just over 1GB. Busy downloading it right now, but I'm not sure when I'll check it out, Borderlands is still keeping me very busy.

Update 16 is out! Including the new frame, Chroma (who looks quite awesome), PvP 2.0 and 8 player raids.

Update seems to be around 500mb. Full patch notes here.

I've been playing a lot again the last few weeks and will probably continue to do so until Bloodborne comes out next week. My 10th frame (Ash) will be done tomorrow morning and after that I will try to go for the new frame.

I really want to get back into this as well as Firefall.

First gotta clear up at least half of my backlog.

I couldn't play Bloodborne last night and decided to play some Warframe. Got 75% off plat when I logged in so I bought 1000 plat for about R150 and got myself Nekros and Limbo as well as a new weapon and still have about 300 plat left. I'm up to 13 frames now; at least I have a lot of stuff to level now for mastery. Want to get to mastery rank 8 so I can finally get the Dragon Nikana. There was also double credits last night so I made about 200K credits as well.

Giving this thread the old necromantic treatment.

This seems like the kind of game you become addicted to and play to the exclusion of everything else for a time, put it down, and then return to it many years later.

This game is very different from the first time I picked it up during the beta on PS4. It's not just that new loot has been added, fundamental things like the way damage works has been changed. They expanded the movement system so you locomote around the map in a series of parkour-style moves (which sounds silly until you've tried it).

And as has been pointed out elsewhere, they're still making big changes -- this week they're introducing a whole new open world MMO-ish area called the Plains of Eidolon

And they're also still adding more Warframes and other loot:

I would also just like to add a big thank you to Wyvern for getting GotChange and I set up nicely on our noobie accounts.

(It looks like my old PlayStation-linked account was culled at some point... luckily I didn't spend any money on it (which is likely the reason it got culled after years of inactivity))

I told you go nuts and enjoy it - Im just happy that I can help in some small way. Even if I cant play at all anymore.

Any south african clans playing this? I just started and am WAY confused as to which kind of warframe I want to start with, I have a little platinum from a steam sale and I want to start with something that fits my gameplay. In games my gameplay preferences are in order of what I like the most:

1. Pet class
2. Solo through healing and then using the same character in groups
3. Stealth solo/sniper

I will also end up playing a LOT of solo since my play times are short due to work/family.

Any advice on what I should spend the plat on?

Excalibur is still the best starting frame imo

Any advice on what I should spend the plat on?

Also pretty new, but here's my dubious advice based on your requirements.

1. Pet class: You're probably thinking of something like a Witch Doctor or Necromancer from Diablo, yes? The closest Warframe has to a summoner is Nekros, but I haven't found his resurrection skill (Shadows of the Dead) to be comparable to say, an army of Fetishes or Skeletons. You can also consider Nyx, which mind controls enemies. Inaros also has an ability where he devours an enemy and turns them into a sand-shade that fights for him for a time.

In some way, all frames are pet classes as they can all equip companions (Sentinels, Kubrows, Kavats). If that's your thing, Oberon might be the one for you as he gives allied pets buffs to health, shields, and armour. However, I have not found pets (Kubrows, Kavats) to be nearly as useful as Sentinels.

Other frames with pet-like abilities are Hydroid and Nidus. Hydroid can spawn tentacles that smack bad guys around, and later on he has the added benefit of an Augment Mod that that increases drop chance -- very good for farming. Nidus can create a field of creep spawning grounds that regenerates health and creates maggots that feast upon your foes.

Chroma's ultimate is Effigy, which lets him shed his pelt that then acts as a turret of sorts.

2. Solo: Just about all frames are solo-capable and may be given self-heal through a Stance Mod. Some frames with extra survivability built into their abilities are:-

 • Inaros (Devour; Scarab Swarm; Undying passive)
 • Nidus (Different undying passive; healing zone)
 • Oberon (Healing zone)
 • Chroma (Elemental Ward - Red/Heat, Blue/Electric, Black/Cold; Vex Armor)
 • Equinox (Equilibrium passive converts 10% of health orbs into energy, and energy orbs into health)
 • Frost (Snowglobe shield bubble)
 • Gara (Crowd control, shield bubble, and AoE through Mass Vitrify + Shattered Lash)
 • Limbo (Riftwalking - Beware: Complicated! Rather unlock him via quest)

3. Stealth: Banshee, Loki, Ivara, and Ash.

Banshee's passive silences all of her weapons and the weapons of her Sentinels. She is also relatively easy to get hold of if you have a Clan. Ours happens to have researched Banshee already, so if you're interested in trying her out, drop me your in-game name and I should be able to invite you -- just have to quickly discuss it with the other guys tonight.

Loki can go invisble for really long, and is pretty easy to select mods for (i.e. newbie friendly). Can also Teleport, though teleportation in Warframe is complicated -- read up before selecting a teleporting warframe.

Ivara is like Thief-mode for Warframe. She can also go invisible and has the added benefit of "stealing" loot from enemies while Prowling. She is also hell to farm, so a good choice for a plat purchase. Complicated to play, though. Check videos and read the Wiki before deciding.

Ash can go invisible for a short period and can also teleport.

Bonus round: Primes

Since you're spending plat, something you should consider is buying a Primed version of Warframes listed above (where available). You can use warframe.market to track down sellers.

Relevant primes are: Ash Prime, Banshee Prime, Hydroid Prime, Loki Prime, Nekros Prime, Nyx Prime, and Oberon Prime.

Some of these have been "vaulted" (i.e. parts no longer drop in the game), but there are still people selling the parts.

Frost Prime you can get for free until 31 December using the Prime for Prime promo. You can also get Soma Prime this way, which is highly recommended as it is one of the best guns in the game. (Steps: get 7-day free Amazon Prime Video trial, link to Twitch for free Twitch Prime for 7-days, claim Prime rewards, cancel Amazon Prime Video trial.)

Difficulty to acquire

A factor you may want to consider is how difficult a particular non-Prime Warframe is to acquire:

 • Nidus: Quest that is only available after you complete the main story.
 • Inaros: Quest which is only obtainable from Baro Ti'keer. He should be arriving on Friday again. If you can't access the relay where he's at, let me know and I'll buy the quest for you if you want it. The quest story was amazing, but it can be tricky to solo depending on how much the RNG hates you.
 • Chroma: Blueprints unlocked as you traverse Junctions, but you need to farm Saryn on Sedna to craft one of the components. You basically have to play through the whole main story (or unlock its locations, at least) before you get there.
 • Ivara: Components drop from Spy mission rewards. You have to extract data from all three points to stand a chance to get her component.
 • Equinox: Standard boss-farm, but requires double the number of components and nearly double the amount of time to craft.
 • Oberon: Components drop from Eximus units. Probably took me over 150 hours of normal playing to get everything.
 • Ash: Components drop from Manics (not the ones that spawn during the boss fight for farming Equinox). Basically you need to trip the alarm on high-level Grineer missions, or play endless Grineer missions like Defence or Survival and hope they spawn. Probably took me over 150 hours of normal playing to get everything.
 • Gara: Components drop from bounties on the Plains of Eidolon.
 • Excalibur: Honourable mention. In case someone reads this and hasn't selected their starting Warframe yet. Excalibur is a pain to farm later. Choose him as your starter frame and thank me later.
