I have been in the PC industry for the past 18 years and i can promise you that piracy isn't killing the PC industry. Let me explain.
I live in a small town. Many of my cusomers that visits the shop for modding stuff or fan's or whatever, comes to me and "brag" about the games they got from friends or downloaded. I used to get angry but then i saw a pattern taking shape...
They pirate the game, waits till it comes down in price and then buy the platinum or exclusive title. Remember in this sunny country of ours, a xbox or ps3 game costs about R690 when it is new. 8 or so hours later you finish the game and normally it gathers dust. Now many people can't even buy 1 game in 2 or 3 months but as soon as it is R299 or less, the situation changes.
Piracy doesn't kill the industry.... Greed and markups kill it. It costs millions from the time the writers comes up with a game to the actual delivery to the shop, but that is no excuse. Games are too expensive. I love gaming and it is nice to own original games BUT on this forum there is nobody that hasn't pirated games, software or MP3's on our machines.
Like some pirates say " If you like the game, buy it".
