Uncapped ADSL for R399

20kbps? Gah, the days of DSL192 all over again .......

It is possible they need some time to get contention ratios and the like sorted out.

R23 per gig is still a fantastic offering for someone that cannot afford better. Rather slower at times while they sort things out than have no internet at all.

@Necuno: Yes. True completely agreed.

Something like WebAfrica is doing, however what I was thinking at the time of writing was more along the lines of (no excuse though) its possible the large influx of customers due to their resale model is causing temporary problems. In the first world a degraded service would not be acceptable and it should not be here either.

Merely said if they can draw new customers that could previously not afford broadband people will look to them even with a degraded service.

Beggars cant be choosers argument. Having said that we should by no means accept degraded service. So.. basically voting with the wallet comes in here once again. :)

I think I'll wait and see if they manage to sort out the issues before I bite the bullet and sign up. It's pointless having uncapped if the download rate is so low you can't make the most of your line.

How much is line rental these days? :confused: Do Broadband 1 is R199/month, so if line rental is more expensive than that, then that makes no sense haha.

Same old thing as with the idols and too many people voting. you either go into battle prepared or not. I would think that one would rather not use your clients as beta testers unless they do so knowingly.

I clearly asked them about the contention ratio with having in mind that there might be either to many people grouped together or the actual "network" can't take the load due to many signups. then got the reply that they will go first come first sever which made me believe that they will go slow with the roll which they should have done and wouldn't be such an issue now with too many monkeys in the tree.

It is obviously afrihost 1 and screamer 0 for cheaper adsl as to the norm on throughput and stability excluding other issues.

I'm however sure that webafrica will getout the ace when they go live. it is only a matter of time.

my point being is that its not just R399
Where as there are other established guys out there offering much of the same ,with out the hassel...........

What do you mean it's not juts R399? :p

They're selling bandwidth, not the line...as most people do. When line rental is included in the price you're usually paying for it somehow. Fact of the matter is that regardless, this is still by far the cheapest uncapped account the average user can get their hands on.
