Overclocking Thread

We need one :D

So let me start off.

Who knows what is the best overclocking DDR2-800? Im looking to start clocking my quaddie.

I had a Set of OCZ Nvidia SLi DDR800's, and a Set of Crucial Ballistix DDR2 800's.

The Ballistix clocked much sweeter, but were a bit unstable even when bumping the volts up a bit.

It is negative as it depletes the life of "item u clocking"

Just consists of hardware really...

Yeah but unless you are really pushing the volts it won't decrease lifespan enough to matter. By the time it runs out you will have upgraded already.

I have my e8500 on 3.5 ghz on default volts. Can go to 3.8ghz if I up the volts slightly. But seeing as none of my games are really pushing the cpu at the moment its unnessary.

Quoted for truth

quick question at overclocking with std cooling, what temp should your cpu run, +-

as i'm running my e4400 on 2.5, and default is 2.4 and its running between 40-44C - this is/was my first attempt at overclocking that actually worked

cool, so i play can around with more and up mhz a bit at a time and as long as it stays below 50 i should be ok?

u can push that cpu to 3GHZ quiet easily, but then u will have to get an aftermarket CPU cooler. which is really cheap nowadays :)

My Q9450 - a 2.6Ghz quad, OC'd to 3.2G - I've got a Thermalrite 120, temps went up between 5-10°C super stable been running like this for 6 months no issues. Stock voltages, easy overclock
