Lets start here: What is overclocking and what does it do?
Surely there is a negative to doing it though?
What does "overclocking" consist of?
It is negative as it depletes the life of "item u clocking"
Just consists of hardware really...
Yeah but unless you are really pushing the volts it won't decrease lifespan enough to matter. By the time it runs out you will have upgraded already.
I have my e8500 on 3.5 ghz on default volts. Can go to 3.8ghz if I up the volts slightly. But seeing as none of my games are really pushing the cpu at the moment its unnessary.
