Miktar's Meanderings online!

LOL first miktar's meaderings, then Nags sucks vs nag has some good, then hardware prices now derailing... epic but interesting none the less

Miktar tried and touch me in my special place lol. I would not trust him to be alone with him.

How is any of this discussion about Miktar's Meanderings? I know it started out as a comment about one of his articles but now it's hanging perilously on the derail.

Well ... I think it became more a thread about the person himself. And then it became an epic trainsmash. As tpex said though - still interesting reading, and things have a way of leading from one topic to another if they're connected.

No harm done, I think.

Then maybe you should move? :)

Now now ... everybody is entitled to their opinion, and telling them to get out isn't the way to go - remember, one of our esteemed ministers did that once.

For instance, I hate Cape Town, but most people in South Africa seem to think its the place to be. He has his reasons for making that claim, but I don't think this thread is the place to air them.

Play nice now.

Um, no. Being an editor means sitting on the phone all day with publishers and distributors and promoters. It's not a nice job.

Also, don't some of you guys have better things to do than sit around slagging off someone you've never met or even had a conversation with?

Regarding the "shitty country" topic, suggesting dissenters "just move" is rather naive. Emigrating is a massive and complicated process, and ultimately, not everyone even qualifies on paper. And that's before all the personal upheaval.

People have a right to complain about the state of the country they're living in, especially when it's in as poor a state as South Africa. Telling those complainers to shut up is the first step towards an authoritarian dictatorship where nobody's allowed to have an opinion anymore. Don't be the thought police.

Remember, protesting the status quo has brought about much needed change in the past - hey, if nobody had stood up and said it was shitty, we'd probably still be living under apartheid.

As shadowfox has already pointed out, though, it's kinda a discussion for somewhere else.

Azi I was just fooling around. I like the ed from nag he responded to my e-mail. aybe I been unfair to nag. There quality is very good.

Then you are naive. Crime here is a huge factor.

I never said it isn't a huge factor, but calling the country "shitty' because of it is an extremely negative attitude to possess  If you want to see shitty, take a trip up North a few countries.

I've been a victim of crime many times...a month ago or so being the latest, but I don't let it cloud my judgement of the entire country at all. Whilst leaving may be a huge deal, if he's really as unhappy with the country as he suggests, making the move would be worth the work the work involved. It has nothing to do with naivety, but a lot to do with attitude.

But anyway, this is extremely off-topic.

People still read paper-based magazines? Gosh.

Personally, I don't see any reason to pay to read opinions/reviews that I can get online anyway. Additionally, buying a paper magazine means I'm basically spending money to read opinions I don't especially care about, and get a disc with stuff I really don't need.
