Equiping your squad:

Equipping Your Squad
January 15, 2010 by BioWare

by Christina Norman

With up to 10 squad members, equipping your team in Mass Effect 2 could have been a daunting task. To make this task manageable we’ve made two inventory advancements: squad inventory, and auto-upgrades.

Squad Inventory
Whenever Shepard finds an upgraded weapon he scans it with his omni-tool, uploading detailed data to his ship. Using that data, this ship’s armory can replicate the weapon, making it available to any squad member trained to use that weapon type. For example, if you find a superior shotgun, your armory will fabricate copies, making that shotgun model available to any squad member with shotgun training. This gets rid of tedious inventory management tasks, like unequipping and transferring items between squad members.

Auto-Upgrades
Squad members will automatically start using upgraded weapons when they become available. Combined with squad based inventory, this makes managing your squad’s loadout very easy.

Let’s say you find an upgraded sniper rifle. You scan it and upload the data to your ship’s armory. The armory immediately starts fabricating copies. Thane, back on your ship, grabs one from the armory and starts using it. All this is accomplished without any manual inventory management.

Customizing Your Team’s Loadout
You can customize your team’s loadout. At the start of every mission you’ll be given a chance to set weapons for your squad. At this point you can override any choices the auto-upgrade system has made. This is also your chance to customize Shepard’s weapons, including his heavy weapon.

Unique Weapons
While most weapons are shared, some are so advanced or so personalized to an individual that they can’t be easily replicated or transferred. These unique weapons will automatically be received by a specific squad member. This approach helps differentiate your squad members, and creates opportunities for individual progression. Since these weapons are tied to a specific squad member, they work with our auto- upgrade system. Your squad member will start using their new weapon immediately once you obtain it.

The DAO CE was fine imho. It was basicly the normal CE you expect, CE's are never value for money they are aimed at collectors .

BTW. ME 2 forums are moving to the BW social site. Anyone want me to open a my gaming group for that game like we did with DAO??

sure why not. will join with ME 2. didn't get around to it with Dragon Age. game kept me way to busy :)

This custom armor looks insane! Still curious whether or not your squad will be wearing armor but guess we will have to wait and see. I can't believe we have to wait 2 more weeks.

BioWare: Mass Effect 2 Will Have Launch DLC, Won't Charge for It

Little has spilled out regarding BioWare's DLC plans for Mass Effect 2 but yesterday, via Twitter, the studio indicated there will be launch-day DLC and it won't cost anything.
"Addressing rumors: BioWare will not be charging extra for any new Mass Effect 2 content on launch day. More DLC details next week," says the tweet.
Earlier reports had Mass Effect 2 planning a slew of downloadable content, although timing was mentioned for none of it. I suppose that we shall find what the deal is this week. We'd better, the game itself releases in just nine days.

Terminus armour is a definite if we order from BT games. Inferno I am unsure about. BT has said nothing about this but Chris Priestley (BioWare community coordinator) stated on their forums that when ordering from BT games you get both terminus and inferno, it was the only shop he listed that got both if you preordered from them but the other countries/shops he listed had more than one place to preorder from. I asked BT about this but as expected they had no clue and said they would get back to me, its been a week and I am still waiting.

We should ask MooDy. Zaps is normally a little more clued up than BT.

Except that only BT gets these preorder items. Zaps,TakeTwo and Kalahari don't have those deals with EA.
Hopefully they won't run out of stock... it only makes sense to give merchandise to as many dealers as possible - More money.

This actually smacks of unfair competition for the other retailers, but we should be used to it by now.

Its the same everywhere only exception is the US where a few retailers made deals. Everywhere else its only one retailer like UK has game with the preorder items.

Atleast this time unlike with DAO atleast all the online retailers are getting the CE with dao it was only BT.

Yes, I know it's the 'norm', I was more alluding to the 'why' only one retailer.

It does not make business sense to only have one, like I said, more retailers = more sales = profit - especially if the game is popular and well received.

Unless this one retailer happened to win a bid and pay them a (high) privilege fee to be the sole distributor - now that would be believable, plus they would make money like this too.
