Mouse discussion. Best Brand? Pros/Cons?

Hmmmm, be very careful of going for the MS x8. You need exceptionally large hands to use that mouse comfortably. Personally, my preference is for the Logitech G9/Ikari Laser/Roccat Kone, but it's a very personal thing in selecting a mouse. Do what Xero selected and you should end up with a better idea of what fits your hand properly :)

I am going to buck the trend here and suggest that you do not go out and spend hundreds of rands on a pointing device in an effort to save face at LANS.
As I am sure you know, holding an R800 mouse in your hand will not automagically make you a better gamer. That takes practice and a certain amount of innate skill. Why not continue using your current mouse or get something plain-looking for under R200.

You should not concern yourself with what other people think of your choice of hardware. Focus on your game instead.

I bought a ocz laser mouse for R299 works aswell if not better than my old logitech laser wireless mouse:D

Although I'm quite a big Logitech fanboy, I simply could not play with the Logitech G9. Haven't ever owned one, but a mate of mine bought it and I tried it out. It felt...weird...

The G5 is amazing though, been using it since 2006. Probably one of the only components that I don't mind the high price tag seeing that it lasted for 3 life-times of my PCs so far.

Definitely need to try them out at a LAN. I have a G9 and I feel crippled without it. On the other hand, quite a few of my friends don't particularly care for it and have their own preference.

Yes, you have to use a gaming mouse to notice the difference tho

A difference worth double the price? Currently using the original version of the now A4tech x7, A4tech have renamed and rebranded it.

I was talking about something made by companies like Logitech, Microsoft or Roccat, the most I would pay for a mouse from A4tech is R100. LOL

I'd say so. Use the R350 laser mouse for a few months, then switch to something along the lines of the Roccat/Razer/Logitech high-end stuff and see. The high end mice just have better tracking capability generally, which means that where you move the mouse is where it's actually aiming, as well as there being no "jitter" on the movement. I know it seems like an excessive amount to spend on something, but when you consider that the mouse is one of your primary interfaces with the computer, it starts to make a lot more sense...

I've tested and used a Gazillion Mice, no really that number exists and is not made up at all
I've found the following to be true
A) A mouse does not make you better at games
B) If used properly a R 79.50 mouse can perform just as well in certain cases as a mouse costing R 700.00 +
C) A gaming mouse is only ever as fast as the reflex response time of the person using it

That said though, gaming grade lazer mice do have a lot to offer, macros, multiple button support, 1ms response times, superior tracking and on the fly DPI switching to name just a few

Here's a free tip though, if you find a mouse that you love, not that you are fond of, but literally LOVE, make sure it can be found everywhere and is readily availble.
I normally opt for buying at least 3 of them in sets, so that my backup has a backup

Or buy something like the Logitech MX500. Still going strong 5 years later :D

I have been using the MX518 from logitech for almost 6 years now. Epic mouse, and it is still selling today at roughly the same price mine was back then. Only problem is I can't compare it to any other mouse for you seeing as this baby has kept my clicking alive solo all these years.

It really comes down to what you are looking for in a mouse function and price wise.

I am using Cyber Snipa Stinger. Its not the best compared to Roccat etc. but its great value for money Imo. R420 at matrix warehouse
