Halo Reach Multiplayer Beta

I ended up clocking around 3 hours of game time in between all the matchmaking fails, and OMG. REACH RULES. I prefer it to Halo 3 in pretty much every way. It's tighter, faster, and so much more brutal somehow. Could be the fairly small maps and frequently close quarters, of course, but it just seems the game moves at a serious no-mucking-about pace.

Still taking a bit of getting used to for me, though. The weapons handle somewhat differently, which takes some adjustment. And I still don't know where most of the stuff on the maps is. But I'm already so in love with Headhunter and Stockpile, and I really, really like what they've done with the armour abilities.

I only got about 4 games, been having some particular issues with Arena matches, before deciding to call it a night. I did spent alot of time in theater reviewing my matches. I have to agree with you on the Reach Rulez, it feels distinctly Halo but less arcadey. The absence of regenerating health also adds to the brutality. They also nerfed the melee attack as in Halo 3 its my main killer, empty clip to kill shields and bash to kill. In Reach its doesn't work that well. The controls are also ALOT tighter.

The new controls are taking some getting use to. The new assault rifle is very satisfying to fire and although I only had a brief time with the DMR it was fun but you cant treat it like a BR. Yeah the armor abilities are awesome, Active Camo and, surprisingly, jet pack are my favs. Armor lock does come in handy although people just drop a nade at ur feet and once u come out its POP.
I also really enjoyed Headhunter, but it can easily evolve into a cluster f*#k with skulls littering the floor where people just kill and run on.

Played a couple of matches last night. Won't say the gameplay is any faster. The only thing that makes it a bit faster is the ability to sprint with the scout loadout.

I feel the melee distance needs to be nerfed a bit, as it's almost has a similar range as that of the energy sword.

Headhunter is a load of fun. SWAT is just as awesome.

Azi i see on Bungie.net one can access Stats for Network Test 1 a.k.a Generator Defense. Has it gone online coz i didn't see it last night.

I love the assassination moves.

Case in point. :P

In Halo 3 I have 1009 Kills, 319 is from melee and 301 are from Assault rifle. Its harder to get melee kills in Reach. Also there is little of the double KO moments that ive had many many of in Halo 3.

That slayer Pro match I joined you in Azi was awesome.

You missed all the best games, though. :P

Also, I agree it's slightly harder to get melee kills in Reach. It often needs a double tap.

hehe Next time ill stick around longer. Was dying to get another Arena match or 2 in. If i matchmake Free4All everybody just picks Headhunter. Its awesome but i want to try something else also.

yeah double tap works but half a clip from Assault rifle followed by a bash works even better.

Halo Reach Beta available To Silver Members For Short While

From May 14 to May 17, even those putrid, free-loading Silver Xbox Live subscribers will be able to get in on the Halo: Reach beta, Bungie throwing open the gates to both classes for a weekend of jetpack festivities.

There is a catch, of course: you still need to have a copy of Halo: ODST on-hand. But so long as you can scrounge up one of those, you'll be good to go, even if you're an Xbox 360 owner who plays Halo online and...doesn't already have an Xbox Live Gold account.

While on the subject of the beta, Bungie released some stats today covering its first 24 hours, revealing that 1,170,112 people played the game on its first day (Monday), racking up 157,972,986 kills.

No count on the number of assholes whining about something, but that's estimated to also be in the millions.

Im keen to try some more of the maps and Modes out tonight, would be awesome to have a party of Locals. Add me on Live if u haven't already and join me from 8 onwards for some Halo Awesomeness.

Omega - For some reason I could not connect to you or even send you a game invite, even though your status was"looking for game" ? It was rather disappointing.

Hmmm, you may have been trying to do that while he was in my party, which was by invite only. Add me to your friend list.

Invited you Sock, as like Azi said the party was invite only.

Had some awesome games last night, really getting a feel for it. Still dont like crazy kings. That plasma grenade launcher was teh AWESOMENESS.

Any Issues any of you notices?

Having to press and hold X to pick up health pack is a bit of a pain for me personally. Also switching weapons feels a bit sticky, it might just be me getting use to it. I saw one guy on the Beta Forums saying the Damage sound indicators needs to be louder. I also think the nades needs to be nerfed.

I got the invite, still couldn't join, no matter, ill figure it out.

No issues as such, just want to say that bungie did a great job with reducing the amount of lag, I was playing with a bunch of guys from the UK and there was almost no noticeable lag.

If we'd already moved into the Matchmaking screen, you might've had issues joining. It's a bit squirrelly about that, apparently. But I'll swing you an invite if I see you around.
