Because one anime episode can be as long as 4 or 5 manga chapters it catches up with the manga pretty quickly. When that happens you can do one of two things:

1. Add fillers into the anime until enough time has passed to continue using the mangas story. Like Naruto, Bleach, One Piece etc.
2. Deviate from the manga and go along a different story. This usually ends with the anime "ending" whereas the manga is going on strong.

I don't mind it either way, but I find that fillers are the best of going about it. Then again if option 2 is taken you can always, at a later stage, pull an FMA. The original FMA anime finished years ago, but they decided to redo everything by following the manga completely and call it FMA: Brotherhood. Which was fantastically done.

Yeah I thought so too. My problem is with an uncapped 4MB line I can destroy 15GB in less than 12 hours. :( I've allready bought an extra 20GB ($20=R120) cause I need to make a dent in One Piece...... 480 freekin episodes!!! Gonna work out to 120GB..........

rapidshare is so much better:D

I would like to find the guy that dicided that fillers where a Good Idea and change his mind and make it a Bad Idea

Some fillers are good. like the single episodes. they are usually funny, but when they go on for weeks it really spoils the series!

Fillers aren't a problem really, provided they're done well. Like Kyubi pointed out, single episodes that provide a bit of comic relief can be good. It also helps if they fall in between series arcs.

But, especially in longer series (aka Bleach, Naruto) they do them really badly - and can totally put me off a series - like in Bleach, where, smack bang in the middle of the arc, the story gets interrupted by 5 or 6 episodes of absolute trash.

Went to my favourite online Manga reader One Manga and found this:

One Manga said:
"There is an end to everything, to good things as well."

It pains me to announce that this is the last week of manga reading on One Manga (!!). Manga publishers have recently changed their stance on manga scanlations and made it clear that they no longer approve of it. We have decided to abide by their wishes, and remove all manga content (regardless of licensing status) from the site. The removal of content will happen gradually (so you can at least finish some of the outstanding reading you have), but we expect all content to be gone by early next week (RIP OM July '10).

So what next? We're not really sure at this point, but we have some ideas we would like to try out. Until then, the One Manga forums will remain active and we encourage all of you to continue using them. OMF has developed into a great community and it would be a shame to see that disappear.

You can also show us some love in this moment of sadness by 'liking' our brand new Facebook page. It would be nice to see just how many of you came to enjoy our 'better than peanut butter and jelly' invention.

Regardless of whether you stay with us or not, on behalf of the One Manga team, I would like to thank you all for your unwavering support over the years. Through the ups and downs you have stuck with us, and that is what kept us going.

As a certain Porky was fond of saying... That's all folks!

Time for me to go lay down and let this all sink in.

................fuck.

It's been floating around anime news streams and forums for a while now, but Manga publishers have taken a much tougher stance with regards to scanlation sites - a number of them are starting to shut down - I'm not sure how much longer MangaFox is going to be around for either. They've already started restricting access to certain series based on demands from publishing houses.

While I agree with the stance in principle, I'm upset that this applies to all manga series, not just those that have been licensed - meaning that a number of rather excellent series effectively fall out of reach since they don't always get licensed.

MangaFox, AFAIK, are only taking series down in response to cease & desist letters from publishers - one or two other sites are looking into adopting a similar operation as Crunchyroll, in which they have license to publish manga online for a minimal fee.
