Don't buy Dead Rising 2 for the PC

The game's control system is fundamentally broken.

Dead Rising to is a straight port from console to pc so stay away until they fix the problems.

In Dead Rising 2 there is no option to customize your keys you have find a file on your pc to do it manually.

Secondly Dead Rising 2 has the games for Windows Live logo on it and offers you the option to use Microsofts Windows Xbox 360 controller.

IT DOESN'T WORK!

Dead Rising 2 doesn't even register the controller at ALL.

So Stay AWAY! or buy it on console cause it is obvious some lazy programmers were involved in putting the game onto the PC.

I have had to e-mail Capcom to ask for the key codes. I played it a little and enjoyed it but wished they produced a proper game kinda reminds me of Alpha Protocol

10 years age companies wouldn't dream of releasing a broken game but now that everything is so commercialized they just don't care.

I could have warned you off getting this on PC. Most capcon ports suck on pc... /Shudders at Res4.

That was such a let down :(. RE5 uses the same engine, how hard could it have been to put in proper WASD controls, with a mouse? Honestly?

Yep and now I play console so that I dont have to stuggle constantly with the pc.

I think we should seriously look into the possibility that Risker's ocular system might be broken. Dead Rising 2's control scheme on PC works just fine. To say it reminds one of Alpha Protocol is extravagant exaggeration. Mouse control in AP is broken, absolutely, it makes the game unplayable, but in DR2 it works perfectly; Risker's mouse might be broken.

As for the keyboard controls, yes it's a bit annoying that you can't re-map the keys in the game, but let's look at a few of the defaults:

Movement : WASD
Camera : Mouse
Jump: Space
Interact: E
Attack : Left Mouse Button
Pause : Esc
Map : Tab
Answer Call : C
Check Time : T
Select Item : Enter

Um...looks pretty standard to me; what else should they have used?

I finished the game on Saturday and I'll be starting my second playthrough tonight. Not since Titan Quest (circa 1952) have I re-played a game this soon after finishing it. Dead Rising 2 on PC (unlike PC Alpha Protocol) is worth getting and if you're afraid of the R400 price tag, wait until it drops to R300; it will still be worth it.

Juice: Whats it like on PC? I'm torn between getting it for pc or xbox.

I want it for the co-op mostly. Can you LAN it on PC via Steam?

If I buy it and it works crap, will you refund me? :p

Looks like currently only the demo is available on Steam. The hard copy game is Games For Windows Live and I doubt that it can be played over LAN. GFWL co-op would be the way to go.

I really had no problem with the PC version, bar one minor (easily fixed) sound issue. The PC version is cheaper, looks better and comes in a not-shocking-green DVD case.

I'll give you 50 bucks.

What was so wrong with alpha protocal's control system?? It seemed fine to me when I played it.

Keyboard controls are fine, it's the mouse control that not even Dr. Frankenstein would be satisfied with. To turn 180 degrees, you have to move the mouse about four times from left to right or vice versa, plus the sensitivity cannot be changed in-game.

Nothing wrong with the control scheme on the PC. Actually nothing wrong with the game at all on PC. Only had one crash through my own stupidity of not turning my PC fans up. That's it.

Personally, I've had no trouble with the default PC control scheme. I haven't tried to re-configure the keys cos the defaults are fine IMO.

I had no trouble plugging in and using my wired Xbox 360 controller. I read somewhere that it was just a problem with the wireless versions? Not sure about that though - since I've had no trouble, I haven't looked into these issue :P

Otherwise, the gameplay is fun (IMO). So many ways to kill zombies, so few hours in the day!

I must be better then Dr.Frankie.:D I played the game twice through using mainly the mouse and didn't have any of the issues described, either that or I didn't notice.
