US military ends gay ban

So very true! :)

:D

I dunno hey. I reckon with a couple of million $$$, I could be pretty happy. And even if money doesn't make you happy, if does make life easier and a easier life is a happier life!

I'll agree--it does make life easier. Personally though, I'd rather be a poor schmuck living in a shack with my soul mate (if you believe in silly things like that, otherwise just use it pragmatically for what it implies :p) than have a fortune and no-one to share it with :D

You are such a goofball :p

Money doesn't buy happiness; at most it just buys you a key. At the end of the day, you have to make your own happiness and deal with your own problems. The only real problem that money solves is the lack of money :p

But that is what I mean. At the end of the day no matter how happy you are you still need money for bills food and what not. So it still makes you a slave to the god damn system.

:D

I'm not changing any other aspect of my life. It can stay exactly as it is, happily married, 5 dogs, one cat. Add millions to that, and i would be much happier. I mean, if we are choosing a happy scenario here, well, then I choose what I have now, just some extra millions.

Not at all. Nothing legitimately prevents you from putting up your own--likely self-constructed--cottage on some unclaimed land in a forest somewhere and living off of nature's bounty. The problem is that you (and most people, in fact) are slaves (to use your term) to society. Medical care, easy-to-acquire food, delicacies, technology, you name it--all things that we have because society works together.

Could you live in a cottage somewhere and fend for yourself? Probably. Would you be happy? No, which is why you haven't done so already. You choose to be a part of society :)

*nod* I feel the same as you :D But see? You've already found what brings you happiness--money just makes it all easier. Having money first then hoping for the rest... too many complications there, methinks, to ever know if it'd all be real.

I've got more money than I know what to do with (got most of it locked up in investment plans), but that money doesn't make me happy, the games it buys for me makes me happy! :D

I thought you pirate your games a la ThunderAxe's gripes with you...

I've got more money than I know what to do with ...

I can help you with that problem.

See, I have this house I bought, and well, if you want, you could put some of that problematic money towards that? Or, there is this car my wife would love, so that's another option. On that same house, I have many plans and ambitions for improvements and extensions, so maybe another project? :D :D :D

But please, don't be modest or anything... :p

There is no horse, I was just stating a fact. There is nothing to discuss :) It's not a choice. Can you have sex with a man? Easily, but do you have an attraction to men? Can you have a committed, fulfilling relationship with another man? No.

There is nothing to discuss. You and Neo said it was a choice; all I did was say that I made the choice to be gay the same day you made the choice to be straight. That statement requires nothing more than for one to use one's comprehension and understand the gross fallacy of calling it a choice in spite of contradictory evidence--evidence that even a straight person can bear witness to by asking themselves at which point in their lives they decided that the opposite sex is what does it for them.

That's all :) Nothing more, nothing less.

This. Thanks for saving me the trouble. :P

Dude I can't quote the exact verse but there are a couple of instances in the Old and New Testament where is states that same sex relationships are repulsive to God. You can Google it if you want the exact verse. That said, it's a massive sin for sure. Which is why I stated that you'll generally find homosexuality amongst people who have reject God and that's also why I'm disgust at gay people in church.

I didn't read through this whole thread to see what else you posted, but that has got to be the most retarded thing I have ever seen you post, and that is saying a lot in my book. With a mentality like that I'm pretty sure you should be spending your time in the looney bin and not on a public forum.

I'm always dumbfounded by religious people's lack of knowledge about their own scriptures, while so many atheists and agnostics can demonstrate intimate acquaintance with these. Perhaps that's why atheists and agnostics think the way they do.

It's the book of Leviticus which condemns homosexuality. It also condemns - to death, mind you - adulterers, prostitutes, blasphemers, and children who defy their parents; prescribes excommunication and exile for both partners who've had sex while the woman is menstruating; prohibits wearing clothes of two different materials, eating shellfish, and cutting the hair on the sides of your head; and condones slavery.

Context is everything it would seem :p

I love how you get to pick and choose your favourite laws to follow and enforce from the bible:

People often ignore the less popular ones for their own convenience...makes you wonder who the real hypocrites/sinners are.

What Voicy said. ;)

In my experience, people tend to get more looney in the looney bin, so if Neo has any hope of getting rid of his looneyness, he should take off his blinders and make use of this 'Google' he speaks of to search for some quality non-religious websites.

He might also have to look into the fact that it might be a sin not to use your (as he might put it) 'God-given' brain.

It's sort of ironic that many atheists - myself included - are filled with all the love and respect for other human beings that the christian bible prescribes (well, the New Testament, anyway), while so many christians are intolerant and hateful.

True.

If I were a believer, I'd thank the lord for games like Fallout: New Vegas. But since I'm not and the mighty one probably isn't a games developer, I'll just say thank you Obsidian. And with that, I'm off to the wasteland...

My dear hallowed Obsidian.

I thank thee for the four hours of quality gameplay that have been bestowed upon me.

May I be granted the same gift tomorrow evening.

Amen.
