Scopes in FPSs

That isn't usually an issue on most newer system.
Its an issue regardless of how powerful the system is. If you know for certain that no 2x rendering is needed then you can double the render quality of the primary rendering.

If you choose to render twice for scopes you either need to render no scope scenes at 50% of the systems capability to make sure you'd got spare capacity or you suddenly drop the render quality by half when the scope is lifted or you keep everything as is and the FPS crashes. All those options suck.

Tell if you think I'm wrong.. But when it comes to FPSs shouldn't it be that when you zoom in, using the scope, only the area within the scope is zoomed, and the outer areas of the scope are normal eye-view (So-to-speak) distance?

It doesn't work that way in reality, in real life the only "scope" that works that way is a red dot since you don't put your head anywhere near it. You just look through it to have better aim.

A scope works entirely different. Since when you look through it at a range of more than 5cm the image inside the scope is blurred. Thus you have to put your eye right next to it to get a clear image. It's not a camera with zoom enabled.

It's NOT realistic to do the multi image thing!!! No sniper in his right mind would look through his scope and keep the other eye open. It will fuck with his vision and focus and also be highly distracting. So the black around the scope is realistic.

As I said, you don't put your eye right up against the scope, so despite your left eye being shut, you can still see around the edges with your right. (If you are right handed)

Go look at some videos and pictures of snipers, they keep atleast an inch away from the rim. And ontop of that, I know from 1st hand experience that you get a black eye if you do that. You seem to forget that guns have recoil, and the scope is firmly attached to said gun.

I do club shooting and hunting. You put your eye next to it, not on top of it. but so much that you can't see shit otherwise.

Please do that with any calibre from a .308 up, and then take a picture of your black eye and stitches afterwards :D

Like I said, anything more than 5cm away from the scope and you won't be able to hit a target.

Tell that to the Marine Recon snipers hitting targets at 1 MILE with their .50s. And it's not like they put their eye within 10cm of the lens of the scope since getting smacked in the face by a recoiling 15kg rifle is REALLY not a good thing.
