Five 2011 game releases that may disappoint

Good list since I'm looking forward to all of those and worried that they will end up being disappointing as well. Fingers crossed.
 
I think predicting Dragon Age 2 will fail, even if just partly, based solely on its lack of multiplayer is a bit silly. Its an RPG, its not some 8 hour shooter where u need to make up the nest of the time descending into the cesspool that is online gaming. Its is a 20+ hours gaming experience where you shape the world and tell your own story. Thats like saying Fallout New Vegas was a fail coz it didn't have MP. Imagine for a moment the utter anarchy of releasing a bunch of people off the interwebs into your fantasy world.

I think this idea that all games should have a multiplayer component is rather stupid. Somegames just work better solo. See Fallout, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Elder Scroll etc...


Oh as for Deus Ex... here is hoping it manages to blow our socks off.
 
There's a new Silent Hill coming? Oh man I didn't even know that. I keep hoping that at some point they will make a game that's just a little bit as good as the first three Silent Hills and then I'll be happy.

Me wants.
 
Silent Hill 8 - I have to agree. Since Silent Hill 4: The Room I feel the series has been on a constant downward spiral. If SH8 manages to lift the series out of this spiral I will be pleasantly surprised.

Max Payne 3 - I loved the first two. For some reason the info and screenshots of 3 so far hasn't really impressed me. But seeing as it's Rockstar handling it I still have a glimmer of hope...

Well-bloody-said!

I have to admit I had an absolute WTF moment reading that Dragon Age 2 risks being "teh sux 'cos it no has multiplay." I'm sorry, can our dear writer tell the difference between something like Diablo, Dungeon Siege, Titan Quest and, oh, I don't know, the market games like Dragon Age, The Witcher, Fallout, Mass Effect, etc have aimed for or does our writer consider all RPGs to full under the same roof? What utter rubbish!

And as for Deus Ex 3 risking the comparison to Daikatana... Deus Ex 2 wasn't bad in any way, Thief: Deadly Shadows wasn't bad in any way. Ion Storm's weakest games were, in my humble opinion, Anachronox and Daikatana, bearing in mind that Deus Ex wasn't targeting the generic FPS market while Daikatana was the epitome of another Quake and Doom shooty-bang-bang and it failed miserably because of its foul mechanics not *cough* storyline or choice which, for a game like Daikatana, Quake, Doom, Wolfenstein, etc weren't exactly selling points to begin with :)

I'm sorry but our writer's opinion on Dragon Age 2 and Deus Ex 3 leaves a lot to be desired.

Anachronox was awesome! One of the better games I've ever played. So basically they had only one weak game: Daikatana.
 
I'm looking forward to most of these games, expecially Max Payne 3 and Deus Ex. I don't see why losing the writer of the previous two (Max Payne) games is such a big deal, sure the first two games had an awesome story, but Rockstar ain't exactly new to creating games with awesome stories and characters either, RDR anyone? Also, Rockstar are yet to release a game that I haven't enjoyed.
 
I think a clear indication that Deus Ex wont be going the same direction as Daikatana is 3 things... firstly its being made by Edios not ion storm, since ion storm closed its doors. Secondly Hype is being kept to a minimum. There are a few trailers but other than that the hype machine is in neutral. Lastly its been pushed back to after april which give the devs alot more time to polish it up.

Buggy, Boring and predictable. I didn't even finish it. Good concept let down by poor execution. In Yatzee's words "Do you get a tax rebate if you make a zombie add on?"
Undead Nightmare is a pure jump on the zombie band wagon.
 
Max Payn 2 was disappointing so I don't hold thumbs for 3

Dragon Age needs Multiplayer? WTF? its not an FPS! :confused:

I could not disagree with you more, but to each his own. I loved every second of it, still need to get around to finishing Undead Nightmare, but I'm taking a break from open world games for a while. I fully understand why the game won GOTY and Undead Nightmare won best DLC of 2010.
