Roccat Kave Solid 5.1 Headset

@ StNick. I have a Roccat Kave and Yep :) You can hear everything down to water droplets etc. You can directional footsteps from a distance!

Congrats on the Purchase

I received my Kaves today and have been playing around with them most of the night.

My first impressions have been mixed. These definitely aren't the best headphones I've used as far as music goes...

Gaming wise though (the reason I bought them), I am VERY impressed, and they have already brought a new dimension to my gaming experience. I'll post a full review after a few days.

it's gaming head set not studio head set- rather get some sennheisers if you want that :)

Yeah 2.1 (or stereo) is best for music - I find that when you set the system to 2.1 the music playback is actually damn good on the Kaves. - though not as good as my DJing Sieneez - naturally - but still damn good for a pair of gaming headphones

Sorry for reviving an old thread, but I recently bought the Roccat Kave headphones, while the sound and build quality are really awesome, I've really been disappoint with the surround sound feature.
I'm not sure if it is me or because of my onboard sound, but the surround sound is lacking, which seems to be rather a contradiction to the reviews who say that it is really good.
I find that I can kind of tell where the sound is coming from, but the "box" around my head feels to small and I tend to miss interoperate the direction, I really had this idea that when using these headphones, that the "box" around my head would be much larger, so that you can notice a sound very distinctly coming from the left rear, but the sound seams to close and it is hard to tell the noises exact possession
I tried fiddling with room correction in the realtek sound manager, it seemed to improved things, but not completely

I've ordered the Asus Xonar DX sound card (Parents gave me cash for Christmas to get myself something) hope that fixes the problem (stupid Take2, the order arrived yesterday evening and it has been sitting at there offices all day today without shipping, I'm rather pissed off about that as I live in a non-major city, so now it isn't going to arrive before the weekend, and there is a big LAN in PE tomorrow :/, and it looks like I'm going to be in PE for a few days after the weekend while my parcel is ending up in Grahamstown :/ utter fail if you ask me, going to have to sort something out with them)

Maybe it's me or my onboard sound, but the surround hasn't delivered on the expectation that I believed it would

Hi!

Can anyone tell me what are inner dimensions (width, height) of ear cups on this headset? I'm thinking to buy it, but I don't want to buy it just to find out that my ears don't fit into.

regards

lol how big are your ears? :p
Probably normal size, but I never had this kind of headset before ... i used normal earphones (I'm not sure if this is the right english word :D) that fit inside the ear. That's why I would appreciate if someone that has this headset could measure it.

lol ok, I am sure if you have normal ears then you won't have a problem, but I am sure there is a member on here who is willing to whip out their tape measure in the name of science :D

Hi all

I recently bought a set of Roccat Kave's as well. However, the surround sound is not as striking as I thought it would be.
Could that be the cause of my onboard soundcard perhaps? I have Asus P5e Motherboard, with the Supreme FXII onboard sound card. I have already downloaded the latest drivers from Asus' site, and all the plugs are connected to the right jacks. It is also configured as 5.1 in the settings.
Anyone have some thoughts on this? Also, is it just me or do the rear speakers have very low volume?

Thanks

Well I have not seen that post; I just stated my current situation and hoped someone has an answer to my problems.
Thanks anyway

Same issue as you and I am using Asus Xonar DG.

Plassie also has the same set and he said he is using a SB Audigy 2ZS and his is perfect.

Wow I was actually planning on ordering a Xonar DG today! Thanks for the reply, you saved me some money!
So it looks like it might be sound card related... :(
