Update coming today, got some new dailies to keep us busy till the 10th.

Trion Worlds and the Rift development team have set up an aggressive and impressive schedule of updates to the game. Following last month’s v1.1 River of Souls event, players were left wondering what was coming next. MMORPG.com News Manager Suzie Ford had the opportunity to chat with Trion Design Producer Hal Hanlin and Lore Lead Morgan Lockhart about the forthcoming v1.2 Spoils of War patch. Our discussion centered primarily on the prelude event that is scheduled to run from May 4th through May 9th.

Patch is out:

Rift 1.12: 5/4/11

SPOILS OF WAR - PRELUDE
* The Planes of Earth and Fire are suddenly showing an increase in activity, expanding their reach into zones previously left to other planar forces. Their Rifts and Invasions grow more numerous - but why?
* Look for new daily quests to appear in the cities of Sanctum and Meridian. Investigate the recent appearance of shells belonging to ancient golden dragon eggs, and mysterious coins showing up in Guardian and Defiant economies alike.
* Special reward packs for completing these new quests offer chances for uncommonly seen artifacts, rare and useful crafting materials, platinum and more. Reward packs also have a chance at containing a limited-time companion pet!

GENERAL
* Warfront-related guild quests now only progress on their proper maps.
* Multiple other quests requiring wins in Warfronts were fixed as well.
* Abandoning any variant of the Tools of Destruction quest will no longer remove Shadetouched Scepters, Blades, or Executors from your inventory. Additionally, Shadetouched Caches are no longer unique, so more than one can be held in your inventory at a time.
* Fixed a problem where some characters were not getting locked to the River of Souls raid properly.
* Shimmersand: Permanent Slumber: Fixed an issue that would sometimes prevent this quest from resetting correctly.
* Auto-AFK detection is now a bit less aggressive, so you won't get flagged AFK just for stepping away briefly.

Howdy, folks.

Sorry to jump into this thread but I was wondering if any of you have two buddy keys you wouldn't mind parting with? My other half and I would like to see what the fuss is about :)

Thanks!

Edit: Nevermind, Google solves all :o

I got it for me on Saturday. Bit annoyed with the Steam download though. It's a 7+ Gb download and when that is finished, you get another 1+ Gb patch download. Took me about 6 hours in total to finish.

I reached level 14 yesterday. I'm not quite sure if I'm going to stay with it though. It doesn't have the same hold that WoW has for me, but considering I'm a bit burned out with WoW right now, I might stick with it for a bit and see if it gets better.

So far it feels like some weird offspring from WoW and Aion. I can see some elements from both games, but it has a couple unique ideas.

I rolled on Steampike EU, and I must say that the lower level areas are very quiet there.

Just a headsup, expect another 1GB+ patch tomorrow. You joined the game just before one of the super major patches.

Are you defiant or guardian on Steampike? We are a bunch of people on Steampike, Guardians , but yea most people are at lvl 50 now .

Oh boy. Time to rape my friend's dsl connection again :p.

I rolled a Gaurdian. I know about the Prophecy guild, which is why I rolled there. I learned from mistake when I rolled randomly on WoW.

If anyone is interested in trying RIFT give me a shout, will send a 7-day trial your way.

* Many, many additional changes below!

New hotfix:

RIFT 1.2 Hotfix #2 - 12/5/11

LOOKING FOR GROUP
* Fixed a bug that would sometimes cause a character to be teleported to a location within a previous dungeon instead of the main world when leaving through the portal of a LFG-formed instance.
* Replacement members found through the LFG tool can now include players queued for random dungeons, who will still receive their Random Dungeon completion rewards.
* Groups formed from both Random Dungeon and specific Dungeon-queued members will not receive dungeon lockouts. Appropriate random dungeon completion rewards will be given to the members joining from the random queue and not be given to members who queued for that specific dungeon. Groups where all members queued for the specific dungeon will still receive lockouts for that dungeon.
* The Join Public Group will no longer appear while a character is queued through the Looking For Group tool (previously it would appear but give an error when clicked).

GENERAL
* Corrected the display of dyed armor on the Character sheet where it would not show the dyed color unless you were viewing the Wardrobe tab.
* Checkboxes in the Settings panes for RIFTconnect will actually save the selected changes now.
* Gameplay choppiness and lowered framerates on certain configurations after the 1.2 update should be fixed.
* Fixed a case where players would see an “authentication request expired” error when logging out to character select.

I've canceled my subs.

Working too much lately and not enough time to play - and everytime I do log on there's another 50-80MB patch waiting for me.
