Witcher 2 delayed and CE contents

I decided to go with the boxed version. Less guess work and worries for me in the end. Can't wait though. :D

I went with the big bad collector's edition boxed copy for this. I know retail is going to let me down and probably not have stock / get delayed / whatever, but I will be proud to have a boxed copy of this on my shelf.

If my copy does get delayed though, I will probably just get it through Steam as well, I will be too impatient to wait =)

And as luck would have it, our adsl went down overnight and no clue to if or when it will be fixed. This is exactly the reason I'm weary of digital preorders. I would have been so screwed right now... :/

Preload started. Download is 9.6gig but so far speeds is excellent from gog.com, about 400kbps consistently.

Does anyone know if the game will work on the following set-up:

CPU: 2.8 DualCore E5500
RAM: 2GB (might get another 2GB)
GPU: nVidia Geforce 210 512MB DDR 2

I have a Geforce 8500GT at the moment, but I'm pretty sure it won't run the game and I'm gonna get a better graphics card later in the year. However, I can maybe score a Geforce 210 for cheap from a friend for the time being, but I just want to make sure that the game will run if I get it. I haven't been a PC gamer for a while now so I have no idea what a good gpu is anymore. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think it would work. These are the required specs to play
OS: Windows XP SP2 / Windows Vista SP2 / Windows 7 (32/64-bit)
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2 Ghz or AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+
Memory: 1 GB Windows XP / 2 GB Windows Vista and Windows 7
Video Card: 512 MB RAM, supporting Pixel Shader 3.0 (Nvidia GeForce 8800 or ATI Radeon HD3850)
If it does work it will be really slow so try it on a low resolution

LOL, I know what the requirements are and I'm sorted with RAM and CPU, but I don't know much about GPU's. Basically what I want to know is how does the GT 210 compare to a 8800 GT. In the end I really don't care if I have to play thr game on lowest possible settings, as long as I can play it I'm happy. Thanks anyway. :)

If the GT 210 is utterly crap (as I suspect it is), I might also be able to get my hands on a 1GB GT 430. I'm pretty sure that will run the game.

You are quite right. The GT210 is pretty pathetic. The GTS250 is about the same spec as a 8800GT. I'm not too familiar with the new line of mid range nVidia cards, but I think the 430 would suffice.

Is there a reason you are only looking at nVidia though? ATi has some really good mid range cards.

The HD4850 will give you similar performance to the 8800GT or even better you could get an HD5750 which could likely run the game at near full HD with decent performance.

What about the ATI 5570? How would that compare to the GT430?

The GTS 250 is a slight improvement on the 9800 which a slight improvement on the 8800. So the 250 is about 10 - 15 % better.

Thanks for the replies guys. :)

It's not that I want an nVidia gfx card spefically. I stopped being a PC gamer because of constantly upgrading, I just can't afford it. The reason I mentioned the 210 and 430 is because a friend of mine has two PC's - one with each - and he wants to upgrade both of them. He said he'll give me the 210 but sincr it sucks I don't want it and I'm trying to get him to sell me the 430 for cheap so I can play this damn game. I don't want top range and I dont really want to upgrade my PC either, I just want to be able to play The Witcher 2.
