Witcher 2 delayed and CE contents

Yeah, thats more or less what I wanted to know was how much boxed is worth. Personally its worth the extra 100 - 200. Sometimes less, sometimes more.
Would be really interesting to know how much each part of the packaging cost as well as the obvious making and shipping there of.

I have all the Asterix and Oblix on pdf, but I would rather grow my current phyiscal book collection (around 17 of them :D)rather then just las it and stick with the PDF version that I have. Those are really a collectors and are difficult to find for under R110 each. To me its definately worth that R110 each
I don't want to talk about those it's depressing. I wish I had more appreciation for those when they were around by the dozens.

Basicly if you are on uncapped then there is no practical reason to want the retail version.

Does Steam etc run any risk of getting hacked like PSN was. I have never bought a Steam digital copy before so I am just wondering if it is possible that should they get hacked or something your bank details could get hacked at all?

There is, but I'm using paypal. Though even that as with everything isn't 100% secure.

For those who haven't subscribed to the Witcher 2 newsletter, I just got this in my inbox. Enjoy

The Witcher 2 Preview Impressions

In April, we sent out a preview build to journalists all over the world and have been receiving very positive feedback ever since. Here are examples of what some top sites have said about our upcoming game:

IGN
'You should definitely keep an eye on The Witcher 2. It's got brutal combat, it's telling an epic story, it has deep character customization, and is certainly not afraid to show you a little skin every here and there.'

Gamespot
'Graphically, The Witcher 2 was a beautiful game to behold, with its soft, muted color palette and realistic-looking sunlight. On the high graphical setting there was an impressive amount of detail on both the character models and the environment. The Witcher 2's revamped gameplay, impressive visuals, and dark storyline make for an exciting role-playing sequel.'

Gametrailers
'The Witcher 2 feels rich, multilevel and complex - full of details to be explored. Four years and a custom built engine evidently made quite a difference.'

Destructoid
'Western fantasy role-playing games have moved in different directions over the years. Now it looks like we finally have a game that tries to do it all, and in doing so might blow anything away that we've grown to kind of accept in recent years. If you were one of those people that complained about Game X and said "I'll wait for Witcher 2 instead," then congratulations: you were right.'

Kotaku
'The Witcher was one of the best PC role-playing games of all time. The Witcher 2 might wind up being one of the best PC games of all time. Find out on May 17.'

PC Gamer
'I just finished playing through the Prologue and the whole first Act - ten glorious Witchering hours, give or take - but is it really the epic RPG we've all been hoping for? Hint: Yes.'

Till you card gets cloned in-store, or take 2 gets hacked ;)

Or you get mugged on the way to Bt games, ect to pay for the game...

With everything there is a risk but steam does miminize risk. This is the exact reason why your store info containing credit card info is stored on a seperate server as opposed to the steam forum info. That's why you need 2 logins for the forum and the store.

I see Witcher 2 will have permadeath :)

In recent times, we've seen that many of us aren't afraid of more challenging games. In a post-Demon's Souls world, we'll pass on the hand-holding, thanks. I'm personally a fan of player choice, so I think CD Projekt is doing it right with The Witcher 2.

Lead designer Mateusz Kanik talked up the game's difficulty settings to Eurogamer. There's Easy, Medium, Hard, and finally, what you came here for: Insane. In that last one, "You can save the game, but when you die the saves are disabled."

And don't think you can just bypass the enemies, either. "It won't be easy to not fight the monsters. We fixed that by giving all opponents special abilities which allow them to catch the Witcher." For instance, "Undead can dig into the ground and get up near the player."

Kanik says an achievement will be tied to Insane difficulty, so let's hope you're either up for the challenge or aren't OCD about pieces of text that show your in-game accomplishments.

I'm not even gonna fool myself and try that difficulty. Hell, I probably won't even try "hard".

I know permadeath sounds like a challange but I used to play operation flashpoint and I hated the 1 hit 1 kill - dead forever routine..
what sounded like a good idea ended up being annoying and deserved to be patched out.

yeah I will be either play on easy or normal. I am not very good at computer games lol I still enjoy them a lot

Aussie gamers got kicked in the nuts by their censorship board again...

Why The Witcher 2 Was Altered for Aussies
By Tim Colwill - Tue May 3, 2011 12:50pm -

The Witcher is a quite, err, sexy game
Overnight, we received word that The Witcher 2 had received an MA15+ rating for "Strong violence, sex scenes, nudity and coarse language". With the game being rated 18+ in the UK, did the developers change anything for the Australian system? We've been in touch with Australian distributors Namco Bandai who can confirm that they did - and here's what it was.

Only one thing was changed: Geralt is no longer able to choose to accept sex as a reward for successfully completing a side quest. The idea of receiving sex as a reward was not suitable for inclusion within an MA15+ classification, so Namco Bandai requested that CD Projekt remove the option of choosing to have sex as one of the rewards for that quest. The quest and the character who offers it are still in the game, but presented in a "slightly different context".

We are assured that this is the only change made to the Australian version of the game: the rest of the game remains untouched.
