Guild Wars 2

GW2 is appealing more and more. After watching a couple of those vids posted - it's looking pretty class.

Can't wait for more info. Bring on November.

I though GW was great when I viewed the vids posted online too, then I figured, what the hell, I'll buy all of them. Sorely disappointed in gameplay. Each time I go out of town it's in my own little world... monsters respawned. No comradere between strangers passing each other helping in quests or difficult NPC's, hell, can't even run off a hill.

GW2 looks meh

Meh... Engineer sounds a bit dissapointing,
but we can only really judge when game releases i guess :D :D

I'm sure it'll look better when we've got the whole picture. It's tricky to judge this based on previews alone, IMO.

I've been out of the look a bit the last few weeks; what's the latest on a release date?

Release is most likely going to happen next year - but closed beta is near definite in the second half of this year.

GW2 is looking sick. Just looking at the gameplay videos on youtube will attract any previous mmo player. Also, with WoW on a downfall ( Yes, it is starting to die, slowly.) i think it may prey on those old WoW players looking for something fresh and new. I think the games true colours will only be shown when the beta begins and more info and such gets out there.

I like the idea of the engineer its similar to a ritualist.
Also think this call might need a few brain cells to pull of properly which is always good :)

Really hoping that they make this as dynamic as they claim. Getting kicked from a group for not having the "best possible" loadout from your skills sucked. It was what I hated about GW.

That's what I loved about the alliance I was in. We'd ping builds, and if they weren't 100% happy with the loadout they'd make suggestions for tweaks and changes - and we ended up getting quite a few kick-ass groups together - especially when it came to PvP.

Cookie cutter isn't for me, no space for creativity. I enjoy Rift since there is a lot of leeway given for creativity in builds. I can only hope that GW2 allows this too. Skinning a cat the same way every time because everyone tells you that skinning it any other way is retarded gets thin real quick.

Guildwars was as far from cookie cutter as it was possible to be. There was almost no limitations in terms of how you could set up your build, although you could go the cookie cutter build if you wanted to.

On the contrary, Guildwars's skill system needed more creativity than anything else, since you would never have all your skills available to you - a build that worked well in the Ascalonian desert (say, if you were an Elementalist using a water/ice based build) would fail you completely if you tried using it in the Shiverpeaks.

My main character (Elementalist) has 8 or 9 different standard builds which I've put together myself, 2 of which I use for PvP, and even there, they can get tweaked based on the skill-set of the group I'm with. If I end up with another Elementalist for instance, I very often let them do the nuking while I switched to a support/healing build - or - lacking a Ritualist in the group I'd switch to a SS build for extra spike damage.

Having all your skills available in the same manner that Rift, Aion and WoW allows actually limits creativity more than anything else, I find.

No argument there, but what DID irritate me to no end is that the people you join up with to group (it is an MMO after all) would kick you if your build was not EXACTLY what was needed for the dungeon you were going to do. You could be as creative as Einstein on LSD but the game was designed in such a way that your group would most likely fail in the instance they were going to if you did not have the loadout for it. So much for creativity. Consequently, people would refuse to let you in a group doing that instance. The same went for PVP, if you did not have the "right" loadout, bye bye, welcome to my kick button.

So yes, you could be creative solo and I enjoyed that, but as soon as you grouped, it became quite clear that the designers and the players did not believe in creativity at all.

Here is to hoping that having a non standard loadout and using it well will have you succeed in GW2 instead of facing the frustration I had in GW.

Yeah those elitist cunts are everywhere.

If they don't want my warrior/assassin to be in the party, fuck em I'll group with people who weren't accepted for the run.
And speed clears, really, I'm not allowed to be part of the the run because with me the runs will take 5 mins and 12 secs longer than with someone who is the exact profession they need?

Also they act like all-knowing-dickweeds, because they use a build someone else came up with and think they are AWESOME. NO the dude who made the build is awesome, they suck. Group with the rest of us who don't get into those SC groups or dungeons runs etc.

It might take longer to complete but at least you get to do it your way and not have someone raging at you because you were 0.001245ms slow...

The designers did believe in creativity, therefore there are over 2,000+ skills in guild wars to choose from, but you get imba assholes who have no life who spend their entire lives finding exploits for games and making builds that are sooooooo good, that no one else wants to be creative and use their own shit anymore.

But yeah elitism or actually anything with an -ism on it is should be banned from games - "YOU HAVE BEEN BANNED FOR BEING AN ELITIST CUNT!" - Initiate Ban Hammer Sequence in 3... 2... 1...

Like I said, it all comes down to the players you group with, and their general attitude towards the game. I was really lucky to stumble into my current alliance.

We discussed our builds and groupings, figured out what would work best together, and if we wiped ... laughs all around - bugger it, lets figure out what went wrong, get it right next time .... maybe. They were an awesome group of guys and girls - should they implement a similar alliance system in GW2 we're definitely going to be pulling in with them again.

hence why i only play with friends for 90% of the time.

i only dared pugs once and that was with my time over spent in DoA chasing Hall of Madness reward points...

I have also done some guild hopping and there are big guilds like KISS, but they are just big, bot really helpful.

If you want to join a guild that does a lot of cool stuff and want to get your HoM stuffs sorted try out some of those Hard Mode guilds. They have requirements, some of them where they expect you to have finished all the campaigns and have hard mode unlocked and some even require that you have a couple of maxed titles, even one maxed title will get you in.

Then just talk to the guys in the alliance chat and organize with them.

I used to have my own full guild hall, but having a guild is waaaaaay tooooooo muuuuuuuch effort.

If all else fails, just ask us for our IGN's and join us in game, we should probably be able to assist you.

Since Guild Wars 2 showed those awesome jars of bees, I decided to make a Guild Wars 2 guild called, wait for it, Jar of [BEES]!

[BEES] Because Everybody Else Sucks

So I am currently accepting applicants to join my, as of yet not created, but very awesome guild.

Anyone who wishes to join say "AYE"

Should have gone with [BEEs] "We follow a moral compass ... promise" :p

I wish they'd just reveal the Mesmer already. I was hoping they'd keep the new class for last but they're really making us wait! :D
