Star Wars: The Old Republic

Anyone know what the PC specs on this KOTOR MMO? I think I may just get back into PC gaming for this one. I loved the first two games! (Thinking about Bastilla Shan - wonder if we'll ever see her character again?)

There are no specs as of this time, but BioWare did state that they will be similar to WoW's specs :).

I doubt we will see any of the characters other than Revan (Which I'm thinking will be a robot :P) and the other robot characters like HK-47.

After a quick google, it seems SW:TOR will take place around 300 years after KOTOR.

Yep, my deceived cinematic trailer refers "for 300 years we prepared , we grew stronger. While you rested in your cradle of power - believing your people were safe and protected."

Whoever has not seen the E3 2009 trailer... it's EXCEPTIONALLY Good!

What I like is the fact that this is one of the first I know of that allows ground and space combat. True to Star Wars style. Gonna be interesting to know how they manage this.

This game is definitely shaping to be one of the biggest MMO's ever. I have one major concern though, that it may limit it's player base to those who are only interested in Star Wars. Another thing that annoys me is that it is taking forever to get released, after being announced so long ago. Sure, Blizzard are like this too with their games, but they have kinda earned the right to be.

Well I'm not a Star Wars fan, if that's what you mean. Have only seen 1 and half of the movies (new releases I think) don't fancy it much lol.

Well i guess the game has hope then :D! But yeah, i enjoyed the movies and i have watched them all a few times, im not one of those crazy star wars nerds that knows scripts and that sort of thing off by heart, just enjoy the idea and story behind it. Lets hope they use the awesome story to build an amazing mmo around it :)

A sci-fi MMO! It has been a very long time since a good one has come around. *Reminisces about Tabular Rasa*

Eve :O, eve seems sick but i cba to get into it as it has a steep learning curve and requires a shitload of time investment which i can't put in while playing WoW :D!

"Steep learning curve" my royal backside. Everyone who says that about EVE only do so to try make it out as being more than a glorified rinse and repeat. Want to make money? You mine your arse off until you have enough to actually be able to PvP and have spent enough real-world time levelling to be able to use weapons/shields/etc that would actually be USEFUL in PvP. Or you do lame, boring stupid grindy quests or kill pirates to earn some dosh.

"Steep learning curve." Pfff... I sneer at that self-praising overinflated exaggeration of note.

Oh, and this isn't directed at you, Skunkzy :p Just at everywhere I've read that EVE has a "steep learning curve." I honestly don't get it. Earning money isn't difficult, it's just the (real world) time it takes to get to be able to USE stuff and even then, even if you lose your ship(s), insurance pays out. It's only MUCH later where it becomes risky to lose your ships and even then you use cheaper ships to PvP in.

I don't get this "steep learning curve" nonsense. It's a typically boring MMO with typical aspects of gameplay. Its biggest appeal is in its permadeath and even that's not really such a big deal.

Haven't tried Eve yet, though was tempted at one point. But I don't see any reason why I should work a job where I don't get real money :P

bandwidth :(

Interestingly enough Eve uses the least amount of bandwidth out there. Get a copy of the game from someone, I think its about 3 gigs or so. When I was playing it (2 boxing with 2 accounts) it used less than 5 megs an hour which is the lowest I have ever seen in any MMO. I know because I get ripped a new one for bandwidth at 25c a meg.

The best thing about Eve: you can "level" without even playing ;-). It is quite a relaxing game actually, as long as you don't get into PVP. That is another ballgame and can be very stressful.

ja its just those client side files I need to get, otherwise no worries

Still pretty hyped and very interested here, just needing a lot of patience. Rather let them release a completed game, than a half bugged beta game.

Either way, people will complain that it's not coming out soon enough, or that a half made beta bugged game is released too soon.
