Guild Wars 2

The Mesmer is something we know would be revealed some time..., so I would like to see something else; some prelim dungeons or PvP footage... something like that ;)

I used to have my own full guild hall, but having a guild is waaaaaay tooooooo muuuuuuuch effort
What does that mean? where is this 'full' guild hall now ? :(

Shrike, yeah I know exactly what your saying; I am doing most of my stuff in HM on my own, being a Ranger means very little is META for them. I always laugh at people doing these Zaishen Bounties and ZVs; they spam LFG blablabla, I have completed some VQs that takes 10-20 minutes and they are still spamming LFG in the outposts...

You can run a ~95% exact build with one skill different; then your not allowed to join. 10% of the total GW players really created those awesome original ideas, most other people are too stupid to think for themselves and think "EISH uhm no ee this build must be like thees" :@

LOL Soul, chill dude.!!!.. thats me raging about that stuff if I read your column about elitist again :p I dont want to rage about that again :'(

There's no reason we can't get both ;)

Mesmers were my favourite class in the original, and I'm dying to see some of their spells in the sequel! I'm a sucker for spell effects.

I'm just wondering how the Mesmers will be changed, because I haven't noticed any hex removal spells on any of the other professions. So chances are good that there aren't going to be hexes...

Well ... on the one hand we've seen only a really small collection of the possible skills available, so no guarantees there aren't any.

And as much as I would like to see the Mesmer return to the game, we're all taking it for granted that it will. We may still be surprised :p

We may still be surprised :p

NEEEEEEE :( It cant be :'(

BTW: Necromancers dont have hexes as they used to have in Guild Wars, skills have built in 'effects' that will have hex like properties. As far as I can remember; they said boons (de-buffs too) and conditions are the only types they have built in...so a true hex will most likely not be available. (EXCEPT if they want to keep this unique for Mesmers, other professions will definitely not have it)

Well, as mentioned, we've only really seen the tip of the iceberg when it comes to skills so far.

But there are skills in existence that do have hex-like properties. For example, Elementalists have a channelling shock spell. Considering you can move around while casting spells in Guild Wars, that would pretty much result in degen over time, much like a hex.

Just a thought, but what incentive would there be for new mmo players to get into WOW instead of GW2?

WOW instead of GW2? NONE!:wtf:

On the other hand getting into GW2?

Pros:
- Free-to-play vs $15 per month subscription
- Modern graphics vs Warcraft3 graphics (if you havent been playing MMOs you cant love those graphics)
- Dynamic events vs kill-ten-rats quests
- Auto-grouping vs LFG Heal / DPS....AND NOT getting groups WTF are they called anyway. ??
- Even loot sharing between all involved vs loot stealing
- Lots of side mini games vs "Get killed by Deathwing"
- Personal storyline per character / race vs "I am number 10,000,000th person to be killed by Deathwing, and he is still standing"
- More dynamic combat (dodging / positioning) vs "hit-me-hit-you" combat
- Even leveling up to lvl 80 (same time per level) vs taking 1....5...8....40... hours to level up to next level.
- AWESOME looking professions vs ....?
- Hot joinable PVP matches vs .....?
- Etc etc etc

Cons:
- Its not out yet :'(, not for a while!

Check out GW2 professions skill videos for some insight into the combat.

Check some links in this thread (previous ~5 pages) to get some other video links of GW2; or read some Q&A links.

The engineer just solidified how much I want to play this game. it's like the devs had a picture of me on their desk and said 'We need to make a class to make this man happy!" and so they did!

That's what I like to see, WoW offers nothing. Has absolutely no point in playing it other than getting new loot in order to fight bigger monsters for better loot. BORING!

Can't wait for GW2.

It's great that it's still F2P with all the improvements they've been making, although I've never had an issue with the monthly model it's no different from paying for a DSTV subscription.

WoW combat seems so boring compared to this...the sheer number of spells flying off at around 4:40 is nuts. And I just love that Elementalist channelling spell at 6:00!

This game is going to be HUUUUUUUUUUGE!

And I really hope that those WoW fanboys keep playing their WoW game, since we don't need them in our game.

I bet you that one day, in about 2 years when the next WoW is released, you will still have 40 - 50 year old fanboys playing WoW and paying their $150 p/m subs for it.

I believe it will become the CS 1.6 of MMO games.

Whilst they are stuck in the past we would have already gone through the expansions and DLC for Guild Wars 2 and be some of the first players of the most profoundly different and genre-changing game ever made.

I dont know if this is the same movie in LA where they fight this epic lvl 31 boss and getting their ass kicked by him and his pirates, the one I saw (PAX movie about LA pirates) ago was just breathtaking, the chaotic nature of the battle, spells and fire; minions everywhere. It was so refreshing to see some active type battles!

This dude must have been a boss ... he was getting hammered from all sides but just kept going.

Reminds me of some of the Fort Guardians in Aion ... takes 15 - 20 minutes of sheer DPS to take those guys down.

Yeha that Necro was a boss and only 2 levels above the other players and creeps.

There are also Veteran versions of creeps and they put up just as big a fight. Boss battles though take about 10 minutes to complete. But this video was awesome. I got it from ChameleonDevil a couple of months ago and it blew my mind.

The combat is epic, the bosses are strong and the game is going to be killer.

I love what I assume is an Elementalist water spell in that video...it looks like hoola hoops of water rolling across the floor :D
