Guild Wars - General Discussion

I've played around with it a bit. It's quite epic - and it would've been beyond awesome if they'd had this when I started playing.

It's quite something to have an entire group composed of characters that you've invested time in, and the entire group/weapon setup is completely your baby - although I suppose you had the same flexibility with the old heroes system.

I've only got 3 mercs at the moment, but being able to use a full hero/merc group vs the old HH is awesome beyond belief. I might still purchase a few extra merc slots down the line - probably when I get around to working on my HoM again.

i'll take a look at the merc system some day :p

although it'll be a bit barren. ele, monk, assassin, dervish and ranger along with my warrior :)

FFS nou is ek ook op die internetlessness wagon :'(

Magmar, I WAS still playing, until I had to move this past weekend, so not sure when I will be back.

Add Nehekov Zuedeman if you want....

Anyway, no I havent used the Merc system... would have been awesome though; spamming PVE skills (im not even sure if they could use PVE skills Lol) could make the game even more easy for vanquishes.

I love the hero system though, using it everywhere I go with my Shampoo & Conditioner team build I created with the help of Sou1Co11ector :D It works like a charm, the only problem I had was lack of healing when we tried it for the first times.. With a modified version of the team build, I can now run three monks; have enough damage to kill mobs fast; and never die.

Last night some friendly person gave me 3 yellow swords (from Nocholas the trader) for free.

This was rather good news seeing as my warrior has been sucking badly with poor quality swords up until now. Quite odd, considering I just gave away a yellow max dmg staff to a friend not 30mins prior to that. I love karma. :D

Btw, what are the degrees of comparison for weapon significance?

grey / white / blue / purple / yellow / green ?

white/blue/purple/gold(or yellow)/green

gold and green I find for the most part can be pretty similar - greens are mostly the rare boss drops - some golds can actually be better.

Oh hectic ... I've never been in a boss fight other than the missions leading up to Lion's Arch, but those just had mobs. Wonder what it's like.

Oh - are any of you here free to do Drok runs for me at some stage? I'd love me some fancy looking armor. :o

Busy reading up on the GWEN: dungeon where you can get from lvl10 to 20 in about an hour. Would be cool instead of just missioning.

That would be Kilroy's Punchout Extravaganza. Yep ... major XP boost, and unless you're worried about your Survivor status you can go bonkers - you'll get about 8k XP per run in normal mode without scrolls - meaning you can go from level 10 to 20 in about .... ummm ... I'd say about 10 - 12 runs. You can speed it up a bit by using XP Scrolls.

Regarding the Drok's run ... I had my dervish set up with a running build, but the skills have changed so much since I last attempted it I'd probably be completely useless at it now.

So is that a no? :(

If I get internet access I can use my warrior to get you through or my sin...

BUT I DON'T HAVE INTERNETS AT HOME!!! :'(

Anyways if you need a run, remember that you need to get to Marhan Grotto - Drosk doesn't have elite armour. So you need to spam in Beacons Perch that you need a run. Go to the US district, you'll have a better chance to get a run there.

Otherwise check out PvX.wikia.com and look for a running build, if you have the skills for it then try it yourself.

Also just a note - DROKS RUN IS PROBABLY THE MOST DIFFICULT THING EVER!!! I did it once with a random dude and henchies and it took about 3 hours, but I was proud when I finished it.

Well ... yeah ... getting to Marhan's Grotto is not so hard after getting to Droknar's Forge - it's that first bit that's the killer. If you're going to fight your way through (the hard way), then yes, you're looking at a couple of hours worth of time. If you get a pro to run it for you you're looking at 20 - 30 minutes tops ... most of them will charge you 2k - unless prices have gone up.

Might be faster than waiting for me to master it again.

Haven't played this game in a while, but logs in every now and then and run around... but it just came to me now that I had to format my PC recently but I forgot to backup my GW.Dat file >.< (cap killer)

I miss the pre-loot scaling days! Greens were so easy to come by when farming was still farming.

I haven't PvE'd in Guild Wars for as long as I can remember. For the past two/three years it's almost exclusively been Fort Aspenwood for me, and before that it was Alliance Battles.

Kinda sad that AB's are near-dead now.

It's sadder when you don't have the max titles yet...

However, I heard they supposedly fill up again on the dedicated weekends (2x AB points)

So I dinged 20 last night on my paragon, but for some reason he still feels useless. My chants aren't THAT impressive, and my spear mastery is laughable. What are paragons good at besides looking pretty?

They're kinda like the chanters in Aion - not better at much else than buffing and supporting.
