Stylish PC Room Setup.

Hey guys. I am moving down to Cape Town and into my new house. My wife has once again allowed me to have a dedicated "Study"/Gaming room. (she calls it a study but there will be none of that going on in there.) Now i need some advice on how i should have it setup.

First of all i want it looking classic, so proper wooden tables x2 in "L" shape. Some wall mounted shelves by the desk etc. Any ideas?

- Posters with wooden backings (Movies and Games)
- etc.

Here is what will be going in the room:

- 2x wooden desks
- 2x PC
- 3x screens (23" wide, 20" wide, 19" 4:3)
- 32" TV (for sport/PS3) wall mounted or stand*
- Lazy boy (single seater)
- Day bed
- Laptop
- Printer
- Logitech 5.1 surround sound (for PC)**
- Office Chair

Any pics of your setup will help me with ideas please.(I know there is a thread with pics of rig but this is now setup)

Thanks for all your input.

* I have a 46" for the Lounge.
** I have a 7.1 system for the lounge.

So firstly I presume you have bought the house already and know the layout of the room with the door and bic's?
It will play a large part in designing the layout

Oh yes. Sorry. Its a rectangular room with 2 doors. Its about 7m x 5m. Its a old house(wooden floors etc) so the second door is quite small. Leads to another spare bedroom.

What's with the "day bed", man?

I dunno, for me personally, I think a bed in there kinda ruins the "epic man room" feel. Maybe just me.

Windows, which direction does the room face. You don't want a glare coming in and causing havoc on your eyes.
Are there bic's? where are the doors in the room. If the doors are opposite each other you don't want your viewing area to be a walkway etc...

Agreed... If there are "throw pillows" on that bed I would be quite concerned...

HAHA. A day bed is a place where you can just lay down and relax. There is no bedding or funky throw pillows on it or anything. (my wife knows not to put any throw pillows in my PC room as last time they got thrown down the stairs)

Reason i want it is cause when my mates come they can also sit in the man cave while we watch Youtube replays on the 32Inch.

@simon: jees man, many questions. lol. I have only been there a few times hey(still in Pretoria). I cant really tell you yet. will have to let you know when i move in.

The house was being used as a office before we got it so that is why there is someone in this pic. You can see that it is a old house aswell is cause there is a basin in the room haha.

Haha dude, sorry, I am an estate agent so I have kinda been trained to talk people into a good usage of a certain room based on those factors lol.
Well if you got pluming in there are you planning on using it for a little kitchenette thingy for those cold winter nights or are you taking it out.

Well i am not gonna put a kitchen in there, lol. But i will leave it in there. No need to pay to take it out hey.

Whats the floor space of the room?
From the Pic you can't really tell size
My study at home is about 32 Square and I have a full lounge and two desks in there
I can supply pics if you want but it won't really be comparative unless you have more or less the same size available

Yeah I saw that but I'm confused as to the layout though
I dunno .... and the sink thing has totally got me stumped

Bwahahaha. That's funny "sink thing". In some of the older houses they might have a sink in on of the houses. Same thing in the UK. When i was growing up in Surrey many years ago i also had a sink in my room. But please Xero (everyone) put some pics up. Its just for ideas and layouts etc. Say i like your bookshelf or something then i might want to copy that if i may? Thanks.

Haha, I still have to build my bookshelf.

If you could show us a floor plan.

haha. Like i said i don't have a floor plan yet as i am still in Pretoria and only moving in on the 27th. All i want now is ideas more or less.

day bed is a pretty cool idea. Nice to lounge in. Cream color with brown cover pillows to match wooden desk. (and some dark red thrown in)
if you have a free wall, you could build-in shelving for games / books / dvds / figurines etc. An allocated section for everything.
Put back lighting on the shelves so has a subtle glow when you play at night. Will give you some light in the room at least. (not good to play in dark) Try use matching wood color to your desk.

depending on size of room, you could get one of those room dividers to separate the desk and the couch area.

I've got one in my room, a nice wooden carved one, so my pc den is behind it - with book shelf / another desk on the other side. (still need to finish my own pc room, it's just a dump atm)
got a dark ancient oak wooden flooring put in somewhat recently, so getting in furniture to compliment it. Still need to finish painting.

paint the wall one darker color (dark red?) and the rest a lighter color (neatral / beige). Will give the room some character. You can also get some funky wall sticker decals, saw some gaming ones somewhere, and then you get ones with a black city scape of buildings etc. makes a awesome feature on your wall without looking tacky. You can use them with posters in frames, and the design stickers joining the frames up.

if you have empty corners - either put in a nice floor freestanding light that will blend in with the decor, or those ottomans? the poof things. I don't know the name. Some you get longer ones where you can open up and store things in - go for a leather version (or fake leather) to go with the rest of the wooden theme. (leather, wood and subtle yellow lighting looks great, especially when add a dash of dark red)

Make sure you get a desk lamp for your desk. using the main lights can be too bright to play games on.

Also get a comforter / throw blanket for the day bed, even dudes get cold you know. Great for when watching sport

Seeming you have the sink - make use of it. put a cabinet / shelf next to it with a coffee machine, maybe a mini fridge. very simple but make the cupboard in a matching color to your desk.

put shelves in places with any figurines / statues / hell sports tokens if you got em, anything you like or want on display.
can be a tower of beercans, or different bottles.
