On the other hand, though, I feel real sorry for most guys in this thread. The way you're carrying on, you probably like one game out of every thirty that gets released. Shame. Must be hard taking part in a hobby where you don't want to enjoy the games.

The only way they can truly improve on something that is well liked is by taking what they already have and making it better, not by ripping it to shreds and moering stuff in there that makes it unrecognizable.

So, more or less, what you're saying is you want the same game over and over and over, with tiny adjustments to gameplay?

By the way, I do enjoy gaming, but I'm more of an online gamer. I've been playing Bad Company 2 for about a year and a half now (since it came out) so I'd say I get more than enough fun out of this hobby. It was one game I bought for +/- R300 that I'm still enjoying today. I also buy some games in-between that I think would be worthwhile to spend my hard earned money on, like Witcher 2, for instance. And yes, that's about 1 in 30. Because THE REST IS SHIT. Period.

You're probably one of those guys that bought MindJack and enjoyed it! I also think that many of the older gamers are getting gatvol of all these rehashed, bullshit games because we've already seen it all. We want something completely different. The younger crowd obviously LOVES it because for them it's something they've never seen before.

So think a bit next time before you tune someone a load of bs like that. It's not like we don't enjoy gaming, obviously we do, but we just want to see some innovation and less sequels. Is that a bad thing to ask for?

It would be wrong to be selfish and say that they can't change it at all and what not, but come to think of it- CHANGE IT, by all means, but bring someone fresh into the game instead of putting in some lame, repetetive or predictable gimmick. I'm all for change, but please, where's the creativity? They have such an awesome "art" to play with, why not go all out and make something amazing? Conviction is actually the only Splinter Cell game I enjoyed. To each his own. Like I said before, if you don't like the direction they are taking the game in then don't buy it, I know I'm going to.

They now join loyal fans of games like Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon, Crysis, Mafia, Brother In Arms, Operation Flahpoint and many more who have now lost out. Is that fair when you have literally dozens of other games to feed your appetite for run and gun, soak bullets like a sponge, leave your brain at the door actionfests?

Leave the other series alone and let them be. Or else there will be no variety any more. All these games have now meshed into basically the same thing.

It's okay if you enjoy those types of games but for the rest of us it stinks.

Uhm, you could pull the stick out of your ass and reinstall and replay the old games that are more to your liking. I enjoy MOST games. I buy almost every single game that comes out, except those that I have no interest in of course. Look at my trophy card in my signature, you will notice that I have more than 2000 trophies - that's not because I'm a trophy whore but rather because I buy and play a shitload of games.

I am HUGE Hitman fan, it's one of my favourite series in gaming, I have finished all four the games multiple times and I have them all currently installed on my PC and I have absolutely no problem with the new direction they are taking the game in. I think it's great that IO want to try some new things and attract a new crowd as well.

I also played every single Splinter Cell game and I found all of them, before Conviction, to be too difficult for me. I generally hate stealth games, but with Hitman it was different, there was to it than just simple stealth. Also, I know a few Splinter Cell fans who think that after Chaos Theory, Conviction is the best game in the series.

Too much generalisation again. The music industry is way, way too varied to say "everything is being influenced by MTV crap". I listen to metal mostly and I can tell you that there is still a lot of freshness and variety even in just that one main genre (and all its numerous sub-genres) of music. Yes, a lot of bands (like Metallica and In Flames) get influenced by popular shit on MTV, etc. but for every band that sells out there is at least 5 other ones that are just as good or better. Here is an example of a band with a fresh, unique style:

Well you wouldn't notice it by listening to the radio or watching TV. That's my point. If you don't make mainstream pop crap you don't get funding or airtime. Bands that once made alternative music are now pressured into dumbing it down just like game developers are.

I do get your point and I agree with you to a certain extent, but there are still bands and developers (like CDProjekt RED) who do what they want to do, not what they are told to do, and reap the rewards. It just takes a lot of passion and dedication.

I don't sit around looking for reasons to hate 29 out of every 30 games. I see a shit game for a shit game, and a shit game is not one I simply don't like. That is called preference.
