No sign of Battlefield 3 on Steam

ffs! Specifically holding off pre-ordering as want to get it on steam. Maybe they will do what they did for Alice and put it up a short while afterwards.

i dont see the biggie here

1. I'll get the retail copy because having the actually copy is like a collectors item

2. there are other retailers and i dont see whats wrong with origin

3. Even if it does come up on steam, what will it change.....

I want it on steam so it can auto update mainly, so don't have to sit and worry about a physical disc or if I don't play for a while, when I do decide I want to play I don't have to wait for updates to download. (This happened with BFBC2 recently)

With steam it just auto updates and my steam is on all the time. I also don't want to sign up to another online distributor and I want the game to be accessed on my steam as I have a good set up of friends on there already.

Been really looking forward to this game for freaking years now, well since BF2 so it is a given that will be getting it, I just hate that I am forced to go backwards. Got very comfortable with using steam, that any game that I play that isn't on it is just unheard of.

as Graal just stated

its more of an tiny inconvenience and i understand where Kiruna is coming from, steam is awesome that way, when a patch comes out, its downloaded for you....

Just one of those things mate

Without a Steam release, I am rather unlikely to get the game at all.

Even though I am massively excited for BF3, I am just not prepared to load a second digital provider into my life.

I hope the situation does change, and BF3 will be on Steam. Even if it only comes out on Steam on release day or a week later.
Much later than that and I might lose my interest altogether.

Everything else you guys are saying is also valid, but the biggest one for me is simplicity.
I don't WANT or NEED a second/third/87th digital provider in my life.

I think it's really really stupid that there are people who would cut their noses off to spite their faces. Boo hoo, it's not on Steam so you won't now get it? I haven't seen a tantrum like that over something so trivial in quite a while .... get over yourselves.

Not quite a tantrum.
Just stating a situation as it is.

I just don't see any reason to have a second digital provider.
From that point on, where does it end?
Once you have 2, might as well have 3. Then you might as well have 800.

By the time you're done just updating everything in each different platform, your game-time is already spent.

I made a very concise decision when I signed up for a Digital Distro platform. Weighed all the pro's and cons of all the different options. My choice was Steam.
And all it comes down to, is that I am 99% less likely to buy any game if it's not on Steam.

It would have been exactly the same situation if the platform in question was anything else.
When you make a decision you stick to it. Mine just happened to be Steam...

Are you being stupid on purpose? You're the only one throwing a tantrum here. BF3 is obviously not such a high priority in my life as it is to you, and you simply don't like the fact that I won't buy it because it's not on my platform of choice.

Stop getting strokes every time somebody says they don't want to buy the game you're fapping over every night. BF3 is barely even mildly a priority on my to-buy list for the rest of the year.

Retail Wheunis?

I mean im not judging or anything but just cause its not on steam you wont get it?

.....

I already have three, but now it's an encumbrance to keep everything updated. Primarily I use Steam and GoG, then EDM for some titles I got really cheap before it went all ZOMG LOCAL PRICE++.

Not quite a tantrum.

Retail is going to use Origin, as far as I know.

Err, retail will be in a box just like most other games, including being downloadable via Origin.

I don't think he's being stupid at all. If it's not on steam, tough crap. Buy the physical retail copy.
