What Motherboard & Proccessor ?

good points
Give good quality, adequate performance at an excellent price point.

One of the other things that made me go intel is the fact that a lot of games at the moment are not using 4 cores let alone 6. So because the AMD hex are a bit more expensive then the 2400 / 2500 it didn't show a compelling argument at the time for me to save the extra few hundred to go AMD. So at that price point Intel very much won my vote

True most apps simply juggle the cores at the very least

i will however say that interestingly Bad Company 2 utilizes all 6 cores whilst i am ingame

something i didnt expect

Another minor thing is that the TDP of the i5 is 95W, AMD Hex's are 125W. My psu is a basic 500W so that also played a role.
That is surprising that it did, I would actually be interested in seeing some benchies between i5 and AMD hex with a game like that that then uses all 6 cores. hmm...

All I can say is that the i7 2600k is the most amazing CPU I've ever owned :D But seriously, it's wicked. Amazing performance, like a beast. But if you're going for this CPU, it's not a good idea to buy a cheap motherboard. It would be a tremendous waste.

When you buy the sandy bridge range make sure what you want to do. The i7 2600 do not have an unlocked multiplier, which means that it makes oc rather difficult, if you buy the i7 2600K you can OC easily. I run the ASUS P8P67 revision 3 bord with my i7and must say it is an awesome bord. Relatively cheap for a good brand and the reviews say it is a better buy than the delux Asus mobo.

I bought this setup from computers only with 8 gig Kingston HyperMAX Ram for R5400 2-3 months ago. It was a special so you should pay a bit less now.

This the same board you talking about?

Thanks mate. You manage to overclock your setup? How high did it go?

There are youtube vids out to OC up to 5.0 ghz for the i7 2600k on the Asus or MSI boards, I got scared at 4.6 gHZ stable on air, went down to 4 gHZ. Struggling to get the correct setting on taking the turbo stepping off and running constantly on 4 ghz. Did not have the time to do yet (any tips would be nice) What is nice of the software is that one can set your fan speed of Chassis and CPU to step up as the heat increases.
