What's a good micro-management game??

Nope, haven't played it yet... Is it any good? I can't imagine a RTS having a lot of depth though...

Yea its pretty good hey, if you want to multiplayer it then it will be a good option cause the online multi is huge at the moment and lots of South Africans playing it as well.

Eve Online
The Single Title with the Most Micro Management of any game .... EVAR !

Yeah, when I think micro-management, I think rapid deployment and careful unit manuvers. Not economy and civilisation building, thats MACRO-management to me.

But you say RTS game lack depth, you should than try playing company of heroes. It's the most emersive strategy game I've ever played. It might be not the most complex and expansive game, but you feel like you're in the thick of it right beside your troops when you play and small mistakes with how you behave yourself early on can cause huge ramifacations later on.

I've actually been looking into EVE, looks interesting... The only thing putting me off is the fact that 70% of your time is spent mining rock... Eish...

I never said they lack depth, not once. I just said that based on RTS games I've played, there isn't really any depth... I'll look into Company of Heroes. Can get all of them, except for the recent expansion, for $15.

Duke, I have friends that play it religiously, some to the point of Divorce
The trick apprently is to have a minimum of two accounts, one for mining and generating Isk and one for actual specialization

wat about high level wargames like matrixgames stuff... Operational Art of War etc...

Have you tried the close combat series?

Haven't heard of any of those games... Will look into them:). Thanks.

Well I just bought it, so will d/l it one of these days and see how it goes :). Thanks for the suggestion!

Close Combat...I was thinking of that & couldn't remember the name. Or anything google'able about it. :/ Very good suggestion by Alan there.

I found it a bit frustrating as I kept getting owned. Your positioning of the units etc has to be just right or they lose effectiveness & sometimes your heavily outgunned on top of that. So a game tends to either go really well if you kill a crucial unit early on or deteriorate pretty rapidly if you don't. I can totally see it being fun though for someone with a tiny bit more patience to manage line of sight issues etc. Also...half-tracks fail against tanks....reliably so.:o

Possibly my favourite series ever. Only problem is the AI is poor attacking so it's best to play the side on the offensive.

Close Combat 2 is the best but it's insanely difficult to win the overall campaign as the allies. But it's fun to lose and just to see how far you can get.

Plenty of micro management since your troops behave realistically. For example you might install a bazooka team in a great yet isolated ambush spot but you fail to take into account they're green troops with low moral and when that Panther starts heading their way they start shitting themselves. Absolutely nerve wracking since as you point out the entire battle might hinge on them. This is not Red Alert where you can destroy a tank with 5 men. 5000 rifleman would be of no use lol.
