Console gaming VS PC gaming

Although - jokes aside - yeah - I'm looking into getting myself one before the end of the year - leaning towards the XBox at the moment, with PS3 coming down the line somewhere.
 
I used to be a staunch PC gamer until UC2 came out in 2009, and I just had to have that game. Now after The Witcher 2 and the Steam sale I have been playing more and more on my PC and I must say, I have missed it! PC gaming is just so much fun, I really see myself becoming a predominantly PC gamer from now on... One thing that console have over PC gaming though, something that will never change, are the games. Most of the best games are console exclusives, and the ones that aren't don't come to the PC at all these days. It's sad but that is the case.
 
It really depends on the type of games you play or what is hardware specific. I grew up playing old RPG's on PC but there were a couple of gems on console but arcade is where my heart is...that is before arcade quality graphics were supposed by pc and console.
 
PC's can do so much more than just play games.
You can watch your movies, download your stuff, backup to dvd, listen to music, Type out your cv or monthly budget. show me a console gamer that can use excell on his console. Case closed.

Cause it's about gaming, why would they want to do their excel documents on their console. But they can watch movies, download stuff and listen to music on a console ;-) that's been possible for quite sometime. Leaving the PC for writing DVD's and spreadsheeting?
 
Despite the versatility for PC, from purely the gaming stand point:

I can lean in my PC version of CoD4. I can play online for free and without any lagging. I run and make mods for most games (for free). I can make my own games for the PC and not have to pay a million bucks for a developers kit and licences to use it. I don't have to pay three thousand rand to get some chip installed in my PC if I wanna run 'backups' (read 'torrented') games. I rarely have backwards compatibility issues. in a couple of years, I'll be able to play 360 and PS3 exlusives on my PC anyways once the emulators are working. It's very rare that something breaks, and if something does break, I don't have to replace entire machine, just the one part that was broken. If I want more hard drive space, I can buy my own harddrives and put them in myself, I don't have to replace the entire machine. If an online server gets hacked and needs to shut down, there are always others I can use. If I feel so inclined, I can run two different games at once and switch between them at a moment's notice.

What can consoles do? You don't have to install... oh wait, yes you do.

Life must be fun being limited to one piece of equipment for gaming... Go on get a console and experience something new ;-)
