Righto... I'm new here
anyways...
The point of this thread refers to the psychology of gamers but more so the gamers of Bad Company 2.
Ive been playing Bad Company 2 for some time, and thoroughly enjoy it!
That being said, over time, Ive noticed things about how the players do under certain situations that the game presents.
Last week Friday A mate and I played a game on Harvest Day (Conquest), pretty full map, we were the Russian army and were totally DOMINATING! it wasn't long till the US army team started disconnecting like flies due to the continued slaughter... this happened to the point where it was grossly unbalanced! My mate and I decided to switch over to the US Army thinking "What the hell, we will most likely get auto balanced at some point, so lets go do our best!"
so the US army started to balance out again, and after struggling a bit to regain lost ground, we started getting somewhere! by the time we started gathering some momentum we had about 20 or so tickets left, we all believed that all hope was lost, but we thought "If we are gonna lose, lets make these suckers pay for their win!"
many of our team mates were fighting hard, not giving up even when one should give up (I guess ignoring the old saying "Choose your battles") Tanks drivers refusing at all costs to let that darn Havok blow it up! Medics working like hell keeping all the men in the fight!
Basically we had taken all 3 points on the map, and started holding them (MY HOUSE BABY!) we were at the point whereby we had 14 tickets left, and they had 160! to say the least, we ended up winning that game, and I think that every player on the US Army team threw a tantrum of sheer joy when we won! (Including myself and my mate, we practically destroyed my house and wouldn't stop talking about how severely we punished them Russians!!!
Basically, the thoughts we had after the game were that even the losing team, that have a mountain to climb can take back a game when just a few incite them to (Not to brag, but my mate and I started the party when we switched over, and in a sense feel responsible for our teams victory) not to say that we were better or played better the any of our team mates (As we all know, having a good player/s on your team doesn't mean you'll win the game) but because we went in wanting to turn the game around, wanting to own, this morale spread over to all our team mates, to the point where EVERY player on our team was literally a freaking HERO and never missed a shot and were true "die hards".
Morale and leadership apply to games just as much as it does in real life, most n00bs who play on the winning teams usually play allot better when they are not on the losing team, and even good players pull off some serious miracles when they have the backing of a well working team!
All in all the point of this thread is really to highlight how great some situations can be and to show that games are very psychological! When being owned, even though all hope is lost, stand up to your "bully" coz as we all know, the bully kaks himself lekker when you start hitting back! and who knows... you may just win a 14-160 game and have a good laugh about it afterwards!!
Peace out
