Diablo 3 beta f&f have started

Talking about latency and mentioning of Aus, NZ & SA and guys playing from there with feedback.
 
I saw a bit of this in played by the guys at the yogscast it seems like all the chars are connected. as in gold is shared as well as items if you put them in ur stash. which i think for me is a little weird. makes it to easy to "cheat" play with one char and then give the other the stuff ur main char doesn't need.

@Leyzer, lol how is that cheating. You could give gold and items around freely in D1 & 2 also. U need to go learn more about Diablo tbh :)
 
The shared stash and shared gold between characters is quite a cool idea and it works well. The last thing you want is to find the perfect item for one of your other characters and have no way of giving it to them, that would just be down right frustrating.
 
D3 is sounding more and more like a MMORPG with the shared stash. Makes me think back on the days, playing a bunch of toons on low levels move everything to the one I want to make my main toon and power level.
Not really a bad thing but it's just not sounding like "Diablo" for me anymore, but time will tell no point in making decisions before playing the game.
 
dont get too excited, they will still be going out, Im sure it will be a phased approach!

I remember when I got into the diablo 2 beta... and did everything over dial-up...

how things have changed :)
 
Really hoping I get into this beta as I want to see more or less how my internet connection handles it before rushing out to buy it. Otherwise if somebody does get their beta please let me know how it goes on a 384 connection

wont be an issue on a 384k line dude. you will be shocked how little traffic those games actually transmit... though having said that we cant FOR SURE say how much.

my line is limited to 384k (or slower I think) during the day, and I can play Heroes of Newerth with skype running to a mate no probs

Mate, the actual speed is not going to make a difference between 384, 1 or 4mb. Its all about your line quality, your isp and their quality and the type of ADSL account you have etc... thus your latency and not the amount of data you can transfer.

And of course the beta is on a US server, while when D3 actually comes out you will be playing on EU, which for us in SA is a bit better latency.

I got into the D2 beta with 2 mates, and we ran around with the names of the Western Province Rugby front row ('cos Barbs remind me of front-rankers) and had such a blast despite the modem lag.

That's what it's about for me really, playing with my friends, not too bothered about public games.
 
I wonder if the D3 beta will be as open as the SC2 beta where if you really wanted to you could get a beta key. Although that was different since you could only play multiplayer.
 
According to the Diablo facebook page, people in South Africa are not eligible to win beta invites with their facebook competition. Whether or not that means people in South Africa are ineligible to get in to the beta is another story... Does anyone know anyone in SA who is in the beta?

That's why I created a fake American (lol). Larry has at least entered the sweepstakes.
